Had a guy at a tire shop(pays really low) give me my bill pull me aside and say, give me $20 and well call it square.

Went to Home Depot and was looking for something to fix my shower, and the guy said, You dont even need to spend money all you gotta do is this. And then gave me the solution.

People arent just going to go broke while working. Theyre going to find ways to pay their bills with or without the necessary pay raises.

I was very pessimistic about the future of this nation but now Im looking at it with curiosity.

i remember when i went to get new tires put on a few years ago and the tech doing it said that my control arm was bad, said he'd put a new one on for $50 instead of the $1200 the shop wanted to put it on

so I bought a new control arm, and the dude came over right after work and put that sucker on. gave him an extra $100. i know how things be

I called up a heating/cooling place about rattling ducts in my house. The guy was on the phone with me for about half an hour helping me diagnose the issue, then just told me to throw some duct tape over the loose connection. Didn't come out to my house or charge me anything.

The way invoicing works for shop mechanics is pretty strange from what I understand. Mechanics have a pretty solid hourly rate because they are skilled technicians. When they perform a job, the job has a preset amount of time that will be invoiced regardless of how long it actually takes the mechanic to perform the repair so this incentivizes them to go as quickly as possibly so they can crank out as much work as they can and cram as many jobs in to make a ton. The parts get a decent upcharge too in order to cover the service writers time and what not, but the most expensive thing is paying for the mechanic's time that likely took them far less time than you paid for.

I'm not saying it's wrong, just a strange way that everything works. If you can get someone to do the repairs after hours it saves a ton, but only if you know they are qualified to actually do it well. Also, sucks that most mechanic's have to purchase their own tools and toolboxes instead of having the shop provide them. This means most mechanics start out with an immense amount of debt just so they can work.

Yep. Great big books for every make and model and job you can imagine, was a godsend to have it all computerized and just push a couple of keys to have it all come up. Too many rely on the GUI to navigate and don't realize it's 100% faster to type in the information; two characters for year, one or two for the make, one or two for the model, one character for the specific system, one for the job, done in under ten keystrokes.

Well I read an article that says labor unions at an all time high in terms of approval ratings since the 1960s/1970s.

The fact is people are getting fed up with getting a drop of water in the ocean in terms of pay compared to wealth and value that their labor creates while the guys at the top rake in untold millions in annual salary, stock options, bonuses etc so it's time people fought back.

But keep in mind whether anyone agrees or not America's economic system was born, bred and perfected on slave plantations.

Now think for a moment, if I own people who work for me for free, why on earth would I hire someone that I'd have to pay to do the same work that's being done for free because I own the people doing the work.

I wouldn't hire anyone so today since employers cannot "own" people they do the next best thing and that is they pay them peanuts, they hogtie them with silly disciplinarian rules to keep people in line and they run their companies with an iron fist plantation mentality and also keep in mind that over 90% of managers in America are White males and the workforce is 90% non White and these are the people getting the low pay hence it's also the reason why immigrants are in fashion right now because they'll work and won't ask for a raise, won't join a union, won't ask for benefits and they'll work 12 hour shifts and not say a word but American workers will stand up to that and that's what employers do not want.

We had to have an appraisal done on a property my dad owned before we got it transferred. The guy sent us the papers we needed and the check we had sent to him to pay for it. He hadnt deposited the check.
My mom is a fiend about paying for services. She has a friend whose husband offered to dig a hole for our flagpole for free and shes stressed that he is refusing to take payment for it.

I called a plumber about a rough-in being low for the garbage disposal after the installation of our new deeper sink. He told me nothing can be done and to ditch the disposal.

I called a second plumber and they came and hooked it up without any issue because the rough-in was slightly lower than the disposal drain.

I called an electrician about installing an outlet in a closet for use with the litter robot we have (we keep it in a closet with a cat door). He said it can't be done and even if it could he didn't have any employees to help him because nobody wants to work anymore. LOL

I called a different electrician and he said he'll come over and do it.

Weird.
