But it is interesting that people only consider stuff "too political" now that it's more likely to be conveyed under the lens of nationally introspective rather than international fueds. Harder pill to swallow when it's based on your own soil.

It happens when people feel threatened and rights are being taken away. Trump should have never been President.

I mean, there's also the Green Lantern story arc in the 70s where he was accused of being racist against black people, and Captain America debuting as fighting Hitler during a time when the US was still neutral. Comics and addressing current politics have always been a thing

For me it's just too mentally exhausting. I can't get rid of MAGA cultists even if I vote, so even if blue were to win again in 2024, that wouldn't get rid of MAGA; it would just put them back into hiding where they'd wait for their next opportunity to gain clout and subsequent control. A pedagogue of sorts, if you will.

I'd have honestly probably killed myself by now if I paid attention to politics religiously. Like, I have a friend on Facebook that I explicitly told not to show me his posts of the ongoing Ukraine and Russia shit; I can't take it. It's too painful. Am I content to lay low and watch the country burn down metaphorically or physically? No, but I'd rather not subject myself to anything toxic or overly negative any sooner than I need to.

I'll deal with all that when the time comes. Or I won't. Who knows?

why does every tv show have to be so "politically correct" now?

white people have been dominating tv screens for decades, why does it bother you that the pendulum is finally swinging the other way?

i just think it's pandering that every show seemingly has to cater to everyone. the jobs should just go to the best people for the role

I'm sick of turning on 90 day fiance and being preached to about economic policies and foreign aide.

Because a lot of people don't have a personality, so they latch onto politics and picking a side as a defining personality trait and to have a sense of belonging.

Just look at CE. It used to be fun as hell to come here, but now it's just a cultist circle jerk that shuts down any opposition that prevents meaningful discussion, instead relying on the metric of "I have more people dogpiling on this user's beliefs. We win because we're angry 30-40+ year olds."

The problem's that that example is, like, over 50% of the topics here. 20-30% are probably something sexual, 5% are Vegy stuff, and the last bits are...whatever they are, but they hardly get any posts :x And the topics aren't even interesting most of the time, because they're usually a bunch of other 30-40+ year olds agreeing with the TC and each other about the political point at hand (See: mostly bashing conservatives) until an inevitable dogpile happens on someone of a different view, who basically said exactly what they said but for liberals instead.

I only started visiting again a month ago, and now I understand why this site is dying.
At least on Reddit or Kiwifarms or wherever, when there's a cultist mindset of maintaining that status quo of the forum it can be interesting to read. But CE's boring even when that happens.

And that brings me to my first point: reading all these topics, I don't know jack about any of the users here except something sexual they posted or something political.
So there you have it. Again, it's because some people are so dull as individuals that they use them as a personality substitute.

Thank god I'm not well known here, and I hope to keep it that way~

Most political stuff in media goes over my head because Im more so focused on the personal growth of characters aspect

If something like 21 Jump Street was remade using the same scripts from the 80s (just with Vietnam stuff adjusted to Iraq), people would complain their favorite Channing Tatum movie was ruined by SJWs

Because smartphones and budget laptops became affordable in the early 2010s, giving millions of people unfettered access to the internet despite having zero tech or media literacy.

They became easily susceptible to everything from clickbait to misinformation to hate campaigns disguised as talking points from concerned, "patriotic" news outlets.
