Softcore feels like it makes some elements of the game pointless. Why bother considering defensive skills/passives/gear/gems or giving any sort of thought into what your character can handle, when you can just full-strength throw them over and over into a wall and it doesn't even matter how many times you splatter against it?

The only element of hardcore I don't like is dying to things that aren't even your fault, like network issues, due to the game being always-on (at least on PC).

Really think the appeal (or not) of HC mainly hinges on how much these two factors sway you.

Have you played D3 in the last 8 years? There's infinite endgame progression. If you're playing solo, you need some form of survivability, whether it's intangibility, bulk, or CC, to not get one-shot. If you're playing in a group you usually have a "support" or two that take hits, CC mobs, and group mobs so that the DPS can focus on dealing damage.

Certainly there are some elements of the game that feel pointless in comparison to vanilla D3 or D2, but those games also have their own problems that modern D3 solves. I get that you're advocating for HC, but I think modern HC is mostly just an exercise in trying to stay just slightly below your limits.

Barb, Monk, Necro, and DH are all very strong.
Wiz has a new set and is pretty fun.
Don't play Crusader unless you're committed. Maybe wait til next season for WD and Crusader.
Though, there's class leaderboards so you can ultimately play anything you want and compete, or just have fun.

I'm playing it right now.

My point is, if it's softcore, who cares if you get 1 shot? There's no need to sacrifice offense potential for that stuff because death is a slap on the wrist. If you're solo, you can put Spaulders of Zakara on your follower and there is literally zero consequences because your gear won't even decay.

oh yeah i suppose i do need a follower...

Does dying in hardcore just delete you character or can you make it so that dying in hardcore switches the game to soft core? I wouldnt mind giving hardcore a go but blizzards servers arent the most reliable

So? You can keep trying again until you either get better or get a better rift layout, with absolutely no risk. The first few deaths barely add any delay to your rift, anyway.

There's really just no reason to waste damage potential in a mode where there's basically no punishment for dying anyway.

Character is lost. I hear games like Path of Exile have the kind of hardcore mode you're describing, though.

I love Diablo 3. But this games been out 10 years now and they are focusing still on updating it instead of releasing Diablo 4?

It's amazing that both WoW and D3 got BETTER when updates get handled by skeleton crews who are allowed to break the mold.

You could probably keep the same tactics and go up a few difficultly levels. The games really easy before the torment difficulties.

The game is basically pointless outside of Torment levels.

Always play on the highest level you can while still erasing trash mobs and taking ~30 seconds on elite packs.

i'm level 26? ish should i bump it up a difficulty?
