Looking to invest in optics for my AR.

Currently have a Sig Romeo MSR because it was cheap when I bought the rifle, and I just lumped it into the price.

Now, my issue is this..

Do I want an EOTech or Vortex holographic? Sure.

Do I want to drop 400-700 dollars? I do not.

There are less financially damaging options, like grabbing the Sig Juliet magnifier to make my red dot more viable at a longer distance. Thatll set me back about 169.00 with Palmettos Labor Day deals.

Or do I just bite the proverbial bullet and get the EOTech or the Vortex?

Or, another option, an LPVO. They vary in price from affordable to astronomical.

The practical application is engaging targets from 15-250 yards, with reliability and without much need for adjustments.

Anyone have any experience with the red dot magnifiers? Worth the investment? Not worth it?

Any input is great.

FYI, this is for my work gun. Work just isnt going to pay for it. Classic.

I never understood people who buy cheap optics that were made in China. Go Aimpoint, Trijicon, or if you're on a budget, EOTech. Otherwise, stick to iron sights.

I mean, Sigs optics work. The Romeo 5 is a pretty solid red dot, for a fraction of the cost; thats the appeal.

The issue with EOTech, Trijicon, etc., is that the holo or red dot themselves are typically oppressively expensive up front. Trijicon, especially.

Then the magnifier is going to add another 300-500, depending on brand and sales.

Shit adds up.

But youre not wrong, necessarily. Ill likely end up with an EOTech. You can get them for 500 this weekend.

arent you the guy who posts topics about your guns after major shootings, then acts all passively like "i don't know what i'm doing wrong, plenty of people discuss their guns"?

No. Ive maybe talked about my guns in two or three topics, which were about gun ownership to begin with.

Also, Ive maybe posted two topics on CE in.. the entire time Ive been coming here. This is the only one about guns.

I just use cheap red dots (primary arms micro dots) but I don't use an optic for work or where my life depends on it. Maybe look into the Aimpoint PRO? I have astigmatism and the eotech reticle is blurry, a dot is fine but when you add the ring it's too busy to be usable for me.

I'd recommend a ACSS reticle based LPVO.

https://www.primaryarms.com/rifle-scopes/with-acss

Once you try out the ACSS reticle, you'll never want any optic without it.

It's that damn simple and quick to learn / use.
