Arise was good fun but I'm ready for the next game

I liked arise, but I feel like it ended really soon? Also I hated that like every single lore reveal happened in the last few hours of the game. Probably one of the biggest lore dumps i've seen in a game

They still need to release the updated version of the game inbetween Symphonia and Vesperia.

Destiny Remake has some of the best combat in the series and it got a full translation a year or two ago so go play that

im gonna have to check that out.

That said though I don't know if I have the time for some big JRPG. Isn't Destiny the one with the talking swords and the sky world thing? I played the original on PS1 like 20 years ago

yeah, and they also added in extra content like a Leon path that's about half as long as the main game

Arise seemed especially bad with this. Don't really remember Berseria being like this, and Zestria... well I didn't bother getting that far to find out

berseria was worse imo

almost made me quit the game because they just went on and on for hours about the same shit over and over

Legend is was great.

But yeah Vesperia definitely should have had a sequel game to cover the aftermath.

Arise is the first Tales game I just got bored of playing.
The reveal about the MC and main girl made it feel like I was playing a whole new game halfway through and I just hated that so much it killed my interest in the game.
Also, enemies got so randomly strong, I did a level 40 side mission and the dungeon was like level 54, that was fun.

idk about that, i thought arise was way too easy

like i did the hardest fight in the game which is every boss one after another and then all of them at once

on auto battle, it was stupid easy

The game was easy, it just had a weird difficulty spike out of nowhere.

I want a Tales of just let me jump into the tv set and live in the tales world instead of this world.

I miss Vesperia's combat. Arise was fun but the exposition dump was painful and I was ready for the game to end at that point

vesperia was basically the perfected form of symphonia's combat, I haven't liked any newer ones quite as much

Im kinda burned after Tales of Arise, they removed almost everything that made playing the game fun in the name of simplicity and the story was pretty meh.

?????? Arise was good? Game was trash, and I made it bearable adding in multiplayer. The start is fun and then it falls off HARD. Either people aren't playing on unknown and saying how great it is because it's easy peasy, or they're playing on unknown and realizing how crappy the game is.

Poor Legendia, starved for resources. You can see the bones of something really good in that game that just never made it. A lot of the scrapped ideas for the game sound so much better than the end product it's not even funny. Alas.
OST is amazing though.

Tales of Innocence R has a similar combat system. I enjoyed the game, though importing and playing an untranslated game is a pain in the ass. I'm pretty sure Tales of Translations was working on that, though.

The answer is yes.

From what I've seen, Symphonia, Abyss and Vesperia are sort of a mechanical trilogy. I have yet to play the middle part because it was not released here back during the PS2 era.

I believe it was a good game with a # of prominent shortcomings and issues. I enjoyed my time despite those but pretty much as soon as I got the platinum, I dropped it hard and haven't touched it since February

Also I avoided Hard and higher cuz I knew it was gonna be a bad experience. IIRC the game doesn't provide a suitable reward for higher difficulty so it's a pass for me. Moderate was good enough

Imo, the game definitely seemed designed on even Moderate to incentive buying the DLC that allowed early access to some absolute game changers (KO prevention is insane QoL). Regular battles felt a touch too long without it, and early CP management was sorta annoying without skills to regenerate it after every battle. It wasn't necessary by any means (and they were a pretty huge SP drain, so you really had to pick and choose the goodies at first), but it did feel like everything had too much HP and I had to return to rest too often if I wanted to explore the CP-draining points.

I've heard it's way more noticeable on Hard, whereas it's just an annoyance on Moderate. I've seen a lot of microtransaction-heavy games try to neg your performance in an effort to wrangle a few bucks out of you, and it really felt like what was happening here.

I'm in the third region and got a nice surprise when a dragon swooped down and annihilated my entire party and from what I understand that's the majority of the enemies in the last region

Zesteria's system was terribly complex and way too grindy.

I was going to play Arise but I decided to wait until I get a better computer. Maybe I can get the rest of the DLC for a good price by then.

Abyss is my favorite game in the series, though its gameplay mechanics could use some serious updating; most of the games in the series prior to Vesperia have had combat that has aged poorly. Making it more like Vesperia/Innocence R would be great for a re-release.
