I haven't played since 4th edition.

I do like ma Yugioh, but its meta changes dramatically pretty much every new booster comes out... whereas it SEEEEMS like Mtg has been mostly stable

IDK anything about Planeswalkers or whatever

It used to be stable, but Hasbro has been pushing Wizards to make sets stronger to push booster sales. Now meta gets shaken up way too often.

If you want to get into MTG, just play Arena and be F2P like me.

yeah modern is basically only cards from the last 2 modern horizons sets and standard is constantly having bullshit printed into it, its still fun though

arena is such a shitty client with one of the worst online tcg economies or else id use it

prerelease for the newest set is this weekend though if you want a good place to start

I like to play counter-meta degenerate decks... which IDK what that is in MTG

I heard Mono-blue players are soulless... so maybe something like that? or maybe blue/green poison (poison tokens are degenerate, right?)

No, it's a ridiculously expensive hobby. There are much better ways to spend your entertainment dollar.

Mtg is okay, the most popular format is commander, which I hate. You van spend a few hundred dollars and get a standard deck that will need to be overhauled every 2 years or so. Or modern, spend between 1 to 2 thousand(closer to 2) and get a modern deck that you'll only have to swap 2-6 cards out every 5 years or so.

if you are coming off of yugioh magic is much less fun as far as playing off meta in most 1v1 constructed formats, its just not the game for it
commander is the best for it but 4 player 100 card singilton so ymmv,not my thing personally

your jund deck is out of the meta, its fine and its not unplayable or anything but its misleading to imply otherwise, modern is now a format that you have to stay up to date with if you wanna win, the new cards are just unreasonable in comparison

That just means your LGS isn't very up to date on the meta. Both Boomer JUND and New JUND are hideously out of date right now.
