Hello, and welcome to the next episode in B8 Mafia, Dota 2 Mafia 2, hosted by myself and @PunishedBen . I have played, um, WAY too much Dota (and, by extension, Dota 2) over the past couple of decades, and I hope to have fun with this by putting my own spin on it.

To start, I hope for 15 player slots, and can prepare more if the board wills it (or shave it down somewhat if they don't, but let's hope it doesn't come to that.)

Caveats on signup:
1.) This will be role-heavy, approaching role-madness style. It is experimental in part because I am new to hosting, and in part because I believe I've written up something so fun could be had for anyone. I will be vetting the setup through some more established people that won't be partaking in the game itself to sanity-test it, but balance may be a bit skewed. It should work just fine, and if not... well...
2.) Leave your Haterade at the door. This is a game. We are ostensibly all working adults, and if you want to bring certain bigoted views or commit TOS violations, do it on your own time. Calling someone scum or scummy is fine. Calling someone a jackass is pushing it. Calling someone worse is grounds for not being invited back.
3.) Timing. Related to above, I am a full-time librarian. I do not always have access to computers at the standard end-of-day, and so am relying in part on a co-host, and relying in part on my own attention span to DMs, which aren't always reliable (your host is, unfortunately, part deaf and occasionally fails to hear the phone if the vibrate isn't enough.) I enjoyed the 8 PM Eastern end time of Simple Mafia just past (or rather, I would've, if I wasn't ill, so knock on wood that won't happen again,) so let's aim for that for start/end of day.
4.) Votals Keeping and Stops Calling. Keep your votes and actions taken clear. The easier it is to follow what you're attempting, the easier it is to keep the game going. I will *attempt* to keep votals accurate
5.) Flavor. Try to limit flavor meta, and do not attempt to use your flavor as an argument for "wait why would I do that they don't do that." Like back in the Pokemon side of Star Wars/Pokemon Mafia, flavor does not necessarily equate to alignment.
6.) Flips. Role flips will happen at the end of day phase. There are no janitor roles to alter these.
7.) Standard Mafia rules will otherwise apply. If you have questions about the game that I am able to answer without compromising the game, please either DM me on here or on Discord (I am on the B8 Discord pretty much constantly, even if invisible or away.)

Actually let's just call this a tentative in. I replaced into a game elsewhere before this game was a thing but I may have already found a new contender for one of the dumbest scumteams ever and it might just be over before this even starts.

I mentioned before I saw a scumteam try so hard to mislynch a jailkeeper that when one of them was voted off day 2, they outright surrendered the game. That's going to be hard to ever top.

I think the worst part was trying to mislynch a claimed jailkepper. I mean... isn't that what night kills are for?

Like to give a brief summary, the JK claimed day 1, and they killed a low activity vanilla instead. The first post of day 2 was an instant vote on the jailkeeper from the scum who ultimately got voted off. A different scum who was tunneling later claimed doctor, but outright refused to do anything other than talk about killing the JK. No reads, no other scum, nothing. Just murder the JK claim.

I have absolutely no idea what the endgame was here. The third scum at least wasn't as blatant as those two.

FYI I'm just replying to this because I wanna see if I'm learning the right way.

Mistake #1: You kill someone who's claimed if they're a potentially threatening role. They killed... someone who wasn't even a threat? Someone who wasn't doing anything? You leave inactives there and ignore them. Period. If the host wants to replace them, the host can replace them.

Mistake #2: So their plan was to be like "LOL U LIAR" to the jailer, then? Uhh.... you ask questions before you vote if you're town. Like "Who'd you jail last night?" and "Why do you think scum kept you alive?" Only scum insta-votes for a claimed jailkeeper. Town tries to be like "Wait a minute..." and expose lies. Scum just points fingers quickly and doesn't hide that they actually know more than town.

Mistake #3: If there's a claimed jailkeeper, you don't claim doctor on D2 unless it's advertised as a role madness game, which is the only case when both can co-exist. The liar is blatantly the one who claimed long after the first, else they'd have counter-claimed D1 and led to a scum lynch.

Mistake #4: You're claiming scum if you are trying to get town power lynched without explaining any other reads. You're supposed to be putting a puzzle together - so if you think this claimed jailkeeper is scum, theorize how that fits into the puzzle. Not doing so... yeah.

Oh, and Mistake #5: You need to remember rule 3: Be flexible. These guys seemed to have a plan for how D2 was gonna go and how everyone was just going to go along with it, and didn't change it once things started falling apart. The second scum should have bussed his teammate instead instead of getting both of them exposed.

There's also the related Mistake #7: They forgot what would happen if the jailkeeper was lynched. He would flip... Town Jailkeeper. And then town would know exactly who two dummy scummies were, and they'd be quick-lynched D3 and D4. Possibly by instant votes. So even if the plan worked, they'd be SOL. So not only did they not have a plan after D2, their D2 plan was terrible and ensured their loss.

...do I have all that right? Still trying to learn this stuff the best I can, which is why I felt the need to post this.

What's even worse about it is it seemed to be a place that favors low power setups.

The vanilla wasn't "inactive", but he did have possibly the lowest post total in the game.
