I've been replaying the Half-Life series and the technological difference between Half-Life in 1998 and Half-Life 2 in 2004 feels massive. What improvement can be made for gameplay outside of VR anyways? Improving graphics more important atm. Hundreds or maybe even thousands of games with good gameplay already but 0 games with graphics that look like real life --- I'm a Taurus I like collecting headphones and iems. There's a trend in horror games recently to use that 80s VHS look and its gets tiring to look at quick and that kills the game for me. I don't think there's a problem with pushing for great graphics i think the problem with gaming right now is that there's no chances for risks. Games are all too samey and that's why games like Elden Ring are refreshing. I dont think Elden Ring broke the mold or anything but it took a niche formula like the souls series and made it more appealing by making it open world. They even did some QOL updates to appeal to more casual players and not alienate their base. The reason you hate games with good graphics is that its usually accompanied by mediocre gameplay because its nonthreatening to the average player. --- The night brims with defiled scum,and is permeated by their rotten stench. Without the push for more graphics then it would crash the GPU market, hold back PCs, and stop consoles from evolving. The only thing I would say needs to change is the 8 year life cycles.
