Idk if trampoline park is the right word. It's a building where most of the floors are trampolines. Got lots of activities to play.

Anyway, we took my 8 year old cousin today and I tagged along. We paid to be there for an hour, and I played tag with him and such as well as bounced around a bit. Nothing stressful. After about 15 minutes of jumping my legs started to ache so I started just watching him and my other cousin play. I watched them for like 20 minutes, nothing was wrong.

Then my little cousin wanted me to jump into the pit full of foam blocks. So, I dove in and tossed some blocks at him. And climbed out. Then as soon as I exited, I got super nauseous. I told my mom that I wasn't feeling well, and she said she got nauseous after exiting the foam block pit too. It just got worse though. I told her I had to go find the bathroom to throw up. But I didn't make it, I got very lightheaded. So I sat in the stairs leading to the lobby by a garbage can in case I did vomit.

But after a moment of sitting there, I couldn't catch my breath. Which is weird, because I wasn't out of breath before, and I didn't do anything but toss some blocks. Mom came over and said I was extremely pale. An employee noticed and came to check on me too. By that point I was dripping sweat, struggling for breath and really dizzy. My vision was fading, my hearing was messed up. I lost my train of thought for a few moments, like I forgot where we were and even forgot what day it was. Closed my eyes and immediately felt like I was falling asleep and was about to fall over.

Fortunately that only lasted maybe 20-30 seconds. After that stopped I started recovering. Finally was able to catch my breath. It took the rest of our time for me to recover enough to feel comfortable walking to the car.

Idk what happened. Nothing like that's ever happened before. The only thing I can figure is that maybe I was allergic to the foam? I was feeling totally fine before that, and got sick immediately after. We've been home for about an hour and I'm fine now, just really tired. Felt extremely weak after that happened but that's gone now too.

It's just my luck to go do something fun for once and end up almost passing out because of it. lol

The foam block pit is deceptively exhausting. I can definitely imagine it triggering some kind of problem if you exert yourself way more than you're used to.

Yeah, it surprised me. I don't think I over exerted myself though. I wasn't hot or anything. I lost my breath minutes afterward. All I did was jump in, toss some blocks and climb out.

It just hit suddenly after exiting. I think I would've felt if I was over doing it, like I did while jumping. There was a long break after jumping before the pit. I suppose that's still possible, but I think it was something else. I'll be really ashamed of myself if I nearly passed out by simply tossing some blocks and hopping onto the ledge to get out.

Don't get me wrong, there was definitely something else going on. I'm just saying that the block pit is way more rigorous than it looks, so if pushing yourself was going to cause a problem it's not too strange for it to happen there.

Oh yeah, for sure. I was very surprised at how difficult it was to move in there. That's why I didn't do anything but throw some around. I knew I couldn't make it across where my little cousin was. So instead I just got out.

Possibly, I didn't drink much before going. Mom got me a drink, but it didn't seem to help.

Sorry you got sick after being in the foam block pit. I'm glad you recovered. It sounds like there was something in the pit making you sick, especially since your mom also got sick there. It could be that you were allergic to the foam as you mentioned. The foam may have some chemicals that make people sick. It could even be something else in the pit. Did you inform the workers so they could investigate?

There was a sign at the entry way that said "If you begin to feel sick, please leave the area immediately." I assumed it was because there's lots of kids and I imagine foam blocks and trampolines would be a huge pain to clean if a kid got sick and spewed every where.

Now I'm thinking that possibly there was more to it than that. We didn't exactly inform the employees, but one did come check on me and we explained the situation to that one.

Whatever it was, it hit me hard. I legit couldn't see straight, or hear anything but muffled and echoing voices, and even forgot where I was for a moment.

It didn't seem to affect anyone else though. Others were fine, except mom getting a little nauseous too. For me, it was like my brain wasn't getting any oxygen. My breathing got worse and I just kept getting dizzier and more light headed until I closed my eyes and felt like I was immediately losing consciousness. I managed to snap out of that real quick and that's when I started recovering.

Oh well, other than that I had a great time. We stopped and got food after and it was delicious. It was fun being on a trampoline again, I think it's the first time in about 30 years I was on one.

Sounds like a sign to attempt to keep people from barfing in the foam pit. I'd imagine all of the bouncing around can make some people nauseous.

My first thought is either dehydration or an asthma attack (or similar respiratory difficulties). Foam does tend to off-gas a bit, especially in those quantities, and often collects quite a lot of dust that gets thrown out when people disturb it. While that off-gassing and dust is rarely harmful, it can cause some respiratory irritation, and that on top of already being out of breath and dehydrated could have made your breathing even more difficult and cascaded into what you felt (probably also including a bit of a panic response, as is pretty normal when you feel like you can't breathe and don't know why).

The allergy angle might be worth exploring the next time you go (while well-hydrated and before doing any other exercise, go sit in the pit near one of the edges to see if you start to feel off again and climb out if you do), but I'm guessing it was just a combination of the other factors. Trampoline parks can be deceptive in how much physical fitness they actually require. I visited one with my now-girlfriend a few years back, and because I'd done gymnastics for ~10 years as a kid, I just dove right into bouncing around as though it weren't my first time in over a decade. We bounced around for ~10 minutes before I had an asthma attack and she threw her back out and we both spent the next half hour lying down on a bench, which wasn't exactly the most efficient use of our one-hour time slot. If you go again, make sure you're hydrated and pace yourself more than you think you need to.

That's exactly what I thought when I saw it.

Well, I've never had an asthma attack before. It's probably more in line with dehydration, except that I didn't over exert myself. I just gently bounced around with my little cousin for like 15 minutes. Not strenuous at all, but I did feel my legs getting tired because I haven't done anything like that in forever, so I took a break. Break lasted about 20 minutes until they convinced me to go into the foam pit. I simply rolled in, tossed some blocks, and hopped out. It was a little harder getting out than I expected, because I didn't think the blocks would actually cause much resistance, but still it didn't take a lot of effort. Once I was turned towards the exit it was just a hop and push to get out.

I sat on the edge with my mom for a minute when I suddenly got nauseous and the whole thing kicked off. It put me on my butt for like 10 minutes before I could reasonably stand up and walk to a table to sit. Mom didn't even trust me to walk to the car after. But once I could walk I was fine. I'm not sore today or anything, not even my legs which I was expecting.
