Everyone who know Professor X is a dick alluded to it subtlety. And the ones that don't know just outright call him a hero. So it would be easy to miss the clever posts from those who actually know.

He's one of the most manipulative and arrogant people in comics, he wipes people's memories to cover up his fuckups, and he's been coasting on an undeserved reputation for benevolence for decades.

Yeah but that's in the comics. Both Patrick Steward and James McAvoy personifications were that of a cool older brother/fatherly figure. Oh, and same for the cartoon from the 90's. Really, I was surprised to learn Xavier was such a weasel in the comics. I felt let down.

He was supposed to be nicer but Marvel writers have gone overboard with the giving characters bad sides thing so most heroes other than Spider-Man are basically jerks. And this is despite Spider-Man literally making a deal with Satan.

Someone said Lance Reddick as Xavier which I think would be a good choice if they wanna go with a black Xavier.

If not Professor X he should be Bolivar Trask in a villain role.

Even ignoring Xavier's shadier actions, from a basic conceptual level his plans involve training child soldiers to fight superpowered terrorists. Like how can anyone view that as a totally good dude...

I just looked that up and that was pretty messed up. It's worse than what Batman did against the justice league in comparison. Batman's purpose was to capture/restrain but Xavier's was to kill/maim.

Wasn't Patrick Steward's Xavier adopting children that were persecuted for their powers and giving them a place to be safe? As far as I know, he never forced any kid to become a fighter; they simply chose to do so because they actually cared to protect their friends who kept getting attacked in all three movies of the original trilogy.

That being said, I was much more suspicious of Phillip Broyles from the J.J. Abrams sci-fi series Fringe since even when you knew he was one of the good guys, he was still shady as all heck.

If they aren't bringing back McAvoy and Fassbender - and I presume they won't, for a number of reasons - then this is about as good an alternative as I could've hoped for.
