Yes. I dont like the fact that 2/3 of my city is trying to keep their dogs from having panic attacks. I also dont like the fact that baby animals are abandoned every year because of this, when the loud noises cause the parents to run off.

We have had sadistic heat waves this year and I have been working to keep the rabbit families and the squirrels/birds fed and watered. Now these people will mess it up to ironically celebrate freedom when our Supreme Court is working overtime to take away any and every freedom.

Its also strictly illegal in my city (which almost burned to ashes two years ago), but of course the police dont enforce it.

They run for like 3 weeks here, started a few nights ago

It's never "one day". People set them off for at least two weeks surrounding the 4th.

Im fine with them, to a point. But when dickheads are still shooting them off at like 2am, they can fuck off.

Only when idiots launch them in the daytime.

I dont mind em until people start setting em off long past reasonable hours. Asshole neighbors still setting shit off 2-3am. There is an ordnance but its rarely enforced

Yeah. I get it for the couple nights. But doing it during the day and on other nice nights completely destroys my ability to do anything with my dog.

And that might seem petty, but we're talking about shooting off something just to hear a loud noise. You can't even see it during the day. So, you pretty much can't get any more petty than that. Im not saying only stupid people do it, but it's definitely a stupid people thing. I like stupid people stuff too. I just try to make sure it doesn't involve putting myself over an entire neighborhood of people.

i'm with ya on that. i value sleep greatly. helps everyone get through the day.

Im not enraged or anything, but its annoying. Its always a multi-day event around here, and will go basically all night Monday night Im sure. My dog actually isnt too bad, he looks a little nervous for really loud ones but mostly ignored them. Wakes up my daughter and keeps me awake, though, so its just annoying.

Like others have said, if they kept it to one night and stopped at a reasonable hour itd be much less of a nuisance.

seems like only trashy people do it. its not good at all. spooks the dogs. one of my old dogs got very stressed out and died maybe a day or two after some hoons were firing off fireworks in the area

Yeah. I have a baby that goes to bed at 7pm and it's always a gamble if he's gonna sleep through the night but he sure as fuck isn't during the 4th.

There's virtually no fireworks in Hawaii on July 4. (Unsurprisingly.)
