Tyson will say something snarky if one of the producers calls him to return. HUGE "if." They don't like people who give up, but this group had every reason to be mad. Lying about prize money sounds illegal, even for an unscripted show that exempts itself from numerous game show integrity laws.

There's also that Tyson has friends. He's in good with numerous big Survivor names, like Boston Rob and Natalie Anderson (who was, for those unaware, MedEvac'd from a previous Challenge for having a miscarried baby she didn't know about). Because Tyson will trash production, a lot of Survivor alums will be reluctant to compete if asked. I doubt Jesse could convince them otherwise. Angela's decently connected to BB, so that may be a struggle for them too. If there's not another season, it'll be because they can't get a full cast, and they'll go away quietly since they won't want to admit it. And it'd be 100% their own damn fault.

I remember people wondering why they didn't cast Jonathan. I'm wondering now if they wanted him but he got tipped off to some of the horseshit so he turned it down.

Well keep in mind, the show started filming in March, and S42 only began airing March 9th.

Nope. Just Danny/Shan from S41.

By the way I had no idea that Survivor 41 has been on DVD since March and 42 has been out since August. Probably because it's literally just Jeff on the cover of both seasons.

TAR33 is also out on DVD and the cover is just the logo.

This is dumb. They should put people from the cast on them. Just Jeff makes it impossible to know which season is which.

I think they don't put any budget into the DVDs now because they don't sell that many, since people just stream it on Paramount+.

Eh, it's better than them spoiling every season except Pearl Islands.

I like how they put six relevant characters on the DVD boxart, though. I just didn't like that the winner was always in the same place. If "one of these six major characters is your winner" is all you spoil, that's okay. And then don't put Chris Underwood on there at all to #blindside people.

Another way to do it is just put the whole cast on there, which they did for IOI and WAW.

Also apparently Survivor US starts Wednesday. I forgot.

That should show you how much I care. Survivor SA outclassed anything the US show has done in the last five seasons, so... I'm pretty "whatever" about S43. Yeah, S42 was good, but it was still tainted by the dumb twists, many of which were bad TV.

Also, who wins Big Brother? I never bothered starting it. I don't have the time. I just know who the frontrunner is (and the story is a doozy).

Brittany is almost certainly going home next, which will leave Monte, Taylor and Turner as the final three. Between those three, I don't think any of them have zero chance to win as is often the case in a F3, but Taylor has her work cut out for her over the two guys IMO.

I'd say likelihood of victory is Monte > Turner > Taylor.

My preference is Taylor > Turner > Monte.

I also cannot stand Sami. Even pre-season, I looked through the bios and immediately hated him.

I did not look for anything pre-season, but I like how over half the cast has already gotten something. Very well-edited first ten minutes.

The challenge is the challenge... though I expected the cutaway to show somebody from the red tribe ahead of everyone.

He's so blatantly bussing Justine that Jesse should be like "Wait... he quickly went into targeting mode. The girls are in alliance mode. I think I can trust the girls more, because Cody can do something like that to me too."

On Baka, I don't think Elie is in a good spot at all - the three girls are like "We're good, GIRL POWER!" with the three of them, instead of actually trying to rope in a guy. On Coco, the girls all went to James separately, and they all made it feel like - to him - that this foursome idea had blossomed on its own, and that he's not fourth. I like the contrast here. One girls' group is trying to get that control. The other is just partying, and will be in for a rude awakening when the guys wake up.

I think James might be the first boot there - because doing that means Karla can choose her alliance at the next vote.

Loved the unintentional comedy with the fire/shelter on Vesi.

Cody is SO visible. I'd officially be stunned if he's not the first boot right now.

At least they did something different with THE JOURNEY this time... but yeah, I don't see a need for the advantage bloat... or the confusing rules of this shell game.

Karla should have risked her vote. If she loses her vote, she doesn't have to pick a side just yet - and she can still get James out by saying that Ryan/Geo wanted to vote him out and that they'd still have a 3-2 majority after that. Gabler and Dwight... well, I don't know where on the pecking order either is. Dwight isn't in a bad spot at all AFAIK. It's Justine or Cody in the crosshairs. Might be best to play it safe, but he'll have a target anyway because he got on that boat.

At least this advantage is very simple. It'a an automatic two-TC immunity. It's OP as fuck but it's not complicated and there's a good chance it'll be dead by the merge.

Physical evidence goes a long way here. Gabler showed that he can be trusted and won't be playing stupid games. He knows that he's not going to be believed no matter what unless he has that evidence. Telling them outright is going to put less of a target on him than coming up with some cute story that'll get them to try to flush his advantage.

Two immunities tonight, eh? I would guess that next week's 90-minute episode is a double boot, then.

Jeanine I think wants to avoid being the next target, since she choked at the challenge too. That's why she's pushing Owen hard.

Elie... well, if Owen goes, she's probably one of the last two standing if this ends up being Matsing or Ua. She could be the last person with Jeanine or Gabler. If Morriah goes, they probably win a challenge or two.

EDIT: Okay, I like Sami as the "unintentionally comic arrogant meathead" - even if I hate his guts. He's arrogant in the most pathetically amusing way possible.

So the Survivor premiere was...on the one hand, it felt like everyone got the chance to be on-screen, but it also felt like no one stood out except Mike, Sami, Cody and Karla. Like, Morriah vs. Owen was such a "So?" boot choice.

That's precisely why I find him amusing. He thinks he's hot shit, but he's just shit. He's SO not self-aware that it's hilarious. He thinks he's way more charismatic and fun than he actually is. He looks like a "love to hate" kind of character for me.

Yeah. Both of them got intro bits and were secondary characters for the rest of the premiere. Everyone had a chance - really, only Ryan would be UTR1. Might be a couple UTR2s, but... the sheer amount of MORs here is insane. Oh, and you forgot Elie - she stood out too, with the story about her sister.

Well, that sucks for the first boot. Two for two people I would've rather seen stick around.

Keep in mind I found Daniel Strunk to be a hilarious trainwreck of bad Survivor gameplay, too. A self-inflicted Charlie Brown. Only thing is, Daniel was actively funnier than Sami. Sami's just a douche who is oblivious to that fact. He's also oblivious to the fact that he's a void of charisma. I find it hilarious, the discrepancy between who he thinks he is and who he actually is. I always enjoy characters like him, because they're good to laugh at even though I despise them as a person. Helps me enact head-revenge toward certain egomaniacs from my past.

Drew Christy was an oblivious douche and one of the most brilliant displays of Survivor seppuku anyone could ever imagine. He's one of my favorite pre-merge stories of all time, largely because he thought he had it made while literally everyone else on the tribe mocked him, Wentworth being the most savage. Even his buddy told him to stop acting like a jackass. Nobody will ever come close to that masterpiece.

As for Cody's visibility, sometimes the second boot gets unusually high visibility in the premiere as well, especially if they are a trainwreck (Mari and Shannon cometo mind). But if he survives next episode, then he probably goes fairly deep and is a major character.

Eh, I'm more optimistic about Cody's chances, since he got the "in trouble" edit in the preview, and that usually means you're safe this early.

I have not watched last night's Big Brother yet, so can someone please give me the spoiler-free answer - is tonight's episode supposed to be an actual episode, or a "Derrick visits and does a definitely-not-scripted recap/clipshow" type episode?

At least it's not Celebrity Big Brother, where they have a recap episode and reminisce about something that had literally happened just three days earlier.

Of course BB for a while had a midseason recap episode also, to "help people follow along better" or whatever. Keep in mind Grodner likes her showmances, which I think is because she thinks the fandom wants that stuff since a small portion of people talk about that being their favorite part. The recaps are meant to cater to those people, because they're pretty stupid.

Big Brother SHOULD do recap episodes at this point - but these should be centered around the final 3's storylines, focusing on highlighting things about their games previously only seen on feeds. In other words, it should exist solely to set up the finale. Instead of just regurgitating who hooked up with who, when the parties were, what the big petty fights were about, etc.

Listen, it's not as if Taylor has exactly been a saint, but the reaction to things she's done has been so fucking disproportionate it's ridiculous.

Seeing the Cookout totally disregard Monte in their winner picks after the way he treated her this past episode was pretty great.

Finale night!

Fingers crossed for Taylor but...I don't have faith in Big Brother to deliver that kind of a satisfying conclusion.
