To my knowledge, nobody was rude to Steffen directly.

He gifted someone a game, and they said via PM to him they were going to mod in a certain way which Steffen likely disapproved of, plausibly because religious beliefs. Whether that was voiced or not, I don't know.

The topic itself, having seen it didn't mention Steffen once, nor did it allude to knowing of Steffen's religious beliefs prior to being made. It's not up to me to decide what does or does not upset Steffen, he's an individual and decides that for himself. Upon hearing of the mockery, I went into the topic honestly expecting worse, but as I've said, I'm not religious, so I can't put myself in Stef's shoes in order to understand where the upset came from.

I'm not posting the topic nor mentioning the user because I really cannot stand dogpile mentality, not that I have an issue with anyone here, I'd rather the topic remain in good spirits.

It's a choice based system, where you are deciding who and where to investigate based on things you had previously uncovered, with there being some sort of penalty for the options you don't choose. Some will be immediate, some won't be apparent until much later. And unlike most of the other Telltale games, there are actually lasting consequences to the decisions you make, so in a sense you can get things wrong (though, who's to say).

Sadly that sounds exactly like the other Telltale games style affairs in which there isn't really any detective-work being done by the player so much as it more just being a way to shape the story. While that in and of itself is fine that is largely not what I was interested in: I explicitly want to have to deduce who did some level of something (usually murder).

House party is a great game for what it is.

Didn't expect to come away from it having enjoyed interacting with so many of the characters. The writing isn't anything special, it's actually quite goofy at times, but it's surprisingly enjoyable and the way the quests loop back into one another and open up further / new opportunities is quite good.
