3 different camps of thought inside the White House among the president's advisors on what the president should do:

1. Strongly urge the president to take immediate and swift action. White house counsel's office, Mr. Herschmann, Ivanka Trump.
2. A more neutral group where advisors were trying to toe the line, knowing that Trump didn't want to take immediate action or condemn the riots, but knowing something needed to be done.
3. Deflect and blame - Blame Antifa, etc. Meadows was in this group, but eventually migrated to group #2.

Hutchinson wrote this note at the direction of Mark Meadows. Mark handed her the notecard with one of his pens and dictated this statement for the president to potentially put out. Mark Meadows dictated "illegal," but Herschmann chimed in with the "Without Proper Authority" part. Hutchinson said there should have been a / between the two. The statement was never issued.

Ivanka Trump wanted her father to send the rioters home.

Hutchinson, on the process of crafting Trump's remarks on January 7th:

• Trump didn't necessarily think he needed to do antying more on the 7th than he had already done on the 6th.
• When he was convinced to put out a video on the 7th, Trump had a lot of opinions about what the context of that announcement should entail.
• Several lines from Hutchinson's crafted speech didn't make it in, about prosecuting the rioters.
• Trump didn't think the rioters did anything wrong. Trump thought Mike Pence was the one who did something wrong that day.
• A group of people convinced him to give the speech. Mark Meadows, Ivanka Trump, Jared Kuschner, Eric Herschmann, Pat Cippollone, Pat Philbin, Kayley McEnany.
• They were concerned about the 25th amendment being invoked.
• They wanted to use the speech as cover against prosecution, impeachment, etc.

Trump was even more deranged and unhinged that day than i thought. We are very lucky there wasnt a successful coup that day

Notice how even in his insane meltdown, he still won't condemn the actions of the rioters.

Trump wanted to pardon those who took part in the riot, and Meadows was encouraging that language.

• Pat Cippollone and Eric Herschmann advised Trump not to include anything about pardoning the rioters.

Cheney's questions to Hutchinson:

• Q: Did Rudy Giuliani ever suggest that he was interested in receiving a presidential pardon in relation to January 6th?
• A: He did.
• Q: Did Mark Meadows ever indicate that he was interseted in receiving a presidential pardon in realtion to January 6th?
• A: Mr. Meadows did seek that pardon, yes ma'am.

Only silver lining to this is that the GOP will have escalated the tension in this country to such an extent that everyone else will be in fight-or-flight mode.

Her testimony immediately becomes nothing but hearsay is two direct witnesses directly contradict and indirect witness.

I suspect they're just going to contradict that he "lunged for the steering wheel" which wouldn't exactly be a big contradiction if they corroborate everything else. Given how pretty much only Fox is even going with this narrative at this point, I suspect it's either pretty much nothing or, worse, possibly corroborating witnesses and this is how Fox wants to spin it.
