I heard it costs 100k just to max out one character. Dumping that kind of money on a game is just outrageous to me.

Then again, I also heard that you could spend money on the game then bot it and sell the things you pick up. Maybe there's a profit margin?

Pretty sure its the whales that made 99% of that amount. Even the baby whales throw $1000+ at a game like diablo within the short time its been out.

If the success of p2w games was going to cause all games to become like that, it would've happened already. Those games have been extremely successful for several years now. Every major dev interested in that market is already making games for it.

Point remains the same. Everyone interested in that market is already working in it. The fact that non-p2w games are still made suggests they're not all most AAA devs want to make.

For comparison, Diablo 3 sold 6.3 million copies in its first week. Granted a lot of those sales were probably from the cross-advertisement with WoW, but that's still a claim of $360 million.

2.7 billion demons killed divided by 10 million installs = 270 kills per install. That's presumably a whole lot of people who installed and never played. And 21 deaths per demon killed? Something really wrong there.

The game gets worse and worse as you progress. Not necessarily in a P2W sense, though they have started adding in weekly and monthly deals to cash in more. For example, once you get to level 60, you can no longer run solo dungeons and instead must run with at least 1 party member (for rewards and quests). Same once you get to Hell 2 level, you must wait for a full four member party. They also just nerfed some of the better farming locations and monster drops.

It's set between Diablo 2 and 3. Some bad dudes: remnants of the Bloodcoven, Xul's apprentice, and some others, have found shards of the Worldstone. Skarn, The Herald of Terror, Diablo's number 1 who even Cain's never heard of, it tempting and corrupting these people to giving him the shards so that he can enter Sanctuary/revive Diablo to destroy the world.

The first half is pretty entertaining because you meet a lot of characters from D2 and D3. At one point you play through one of the raids solo and die, only to see that it was a vision of the future unless you bring friends/power up, which is actually pretty cool. Then the story gets bland as you play through Kurast, which sucks of course, but the dungeon has a cool raft ride. Then you get to act 4 where you save a bunch of angels using an angelic sword, but doing so corrupts the sword and allows Skarn to try to corrupt the angels. It's like a better version of Act 2 and 3 from D3.

I know virtually no one cares, but the little references are on point. Like you help Charsi and get Charsi's gift (which is just a blue item with above average stats for your level). It's not great and there's not a lot there, but it's a little better than vanilla D3.

I don't know why gamers are constantly surprised that the vocal angry people on the internet do not mean anything in regards to a games success.

Anyone with a passing knowledge of Blizzard's fanbase shouldn't be surprised by this. There is nothing and I mean absolutely nothing that Blizzard can do that would drive their dedicated fans away. It could be revealed that blizzard is sacrificing orphans and puppies to Xenu and all their fans would do is make a few mildly angry posts on reddit.

Yeah. You get a free legendary gem at some point. You probably should reroll until you get at least a 2* (the first gem might be guaranteed 2* or higher, don't remember), but can reroll until you get a 5* if you want. 5*'s are 1/2222 and currently sell for about $500-$750 worth of currency on the ingame AH.
