Not in number but quality.

I love Phoebe Bridgers's music but her music videos are usually a bit ehh. Would You Rather is an example where it makes the songs better, but most others don't really add anything.

I think the only band whose MVs I follow nowadays is Gorillaz, for kinda obvious reasons. Other than that, I could not give less of a shit. Love a good music video, Blinding Lights is probably the best music video that interrupts the flow of the song next to Thriller by MJ, but I feel like music videos are a dying breed.

There's too many music videos that are just the band playing the song or interpretive dance. Music videos need to tell a story to be worth watching.

Doesn't even have to be a good story. Just something that requires use of your eyes.

I'd imagine they decreased in some capacity since people just play the video in the background on YouTube while doing other things.

The last video I watched was "No Guidance" like 2 or 3 years ago.

There are some artists that still put lots of effort into music videos, but that is definitely on the decline.

Yep. They definitely seem on the decline. What was the last real professional artistic video? Katy Perrys About Last Night? That seemed to mark the end of the MTV-era style videos.

I remember when there was no reality bullshit. Occasionally youd get a show like Remote Control or something. But it was mostly music videos.

Remember when Cyndi Laupers Goonies R Good Enough was 12 minutes long, split over two videos, barely contained any actual Goonies, and featured mostly professional wrestlers? Now that was music videoing!

Michael Jacksons Moonwalker was a feature film lol. Thriller was pretty long and had great production as well.

I watch Hip Hop and R&B videos constantly every day. I like them more than I use to for a variety of reasons. A lot of rappers are just funny with it. Since I watch videos so much, your physical presense plays into my enjoyment of you as an artist alot.

To the untrained eye, I can see how all rap videos look the same. But once you know enough, you start realizing who is being extra on purpose and it makes it funny. if you watch them too literal, you kill all the fun.
