do like they do in the olden times and hit your dominant hand with a ruler everytime you use it

the other hand should catch up eventually

I had a cyst removed on my main hand in high school. Had to wrap it in a cast for 3 months. My other hand learned to write just because they were forced too. But I lost the skill quick once I got the cast off.

I was so shit at it too when I started. I remember practicing my ABCs that night on my desk over and over and I got pretty good at it just in one night. I think by the end of the week I had gotten really good. But that was like 25 years ago. Hard to remember.

Martial arts (I did Shotokan karate and Aikido) helps a lot. You practice everything from both sides and it eventually gives you a base level of ambidexterity. Once I noticed I was becoming ambidextrous I started actively working on it a bit and now I can do pretty much anything with either hand.

Use it routinely for a wide variety of tasks. That's really it. It's probably never going to be as capable as your dominant hand, but you can make it a whole lot less useless with lots of practice.

Practice. Im not fully ambidextrous, but a lot of things I can do with either arm just fine. If I wanted to write with it I could work on it. Albeit its not much worse than my dominate hand regardless.

Being naturally left handed helps. There are many things you're forced to do with your right hand like using scissors and some other tools.

A lot of teachers wont even let kids use them. Plus its an extra cost for a family thats mostly righties.

i doubt that, and they're not even expensive

i think it's more that people just don't really know left handed versions exist because they aren't as ubiquitous

They're rare and often more expensive, so I never got anything like that growing up.
