Little over 2 weeks away now. Glad the Ashen Wolves appear to be part of the base roster and not kept back for DLC.

The demo is so good so far. I've done four battles (two prologue, two after choosing house) and I'm still not even finished with BE.

Really enjoying it. Can't wait to continue playing.

Can't play until after work but very excited to try it out.

I tried out the demo and it feels incredibly slow compared to Age of Calamity which is weird. I'm trying to remain unbiased but it's hard when I consider the first Fire Emblem warriors to be one of the worst games of the musou series <_<

I don't care if it's slower than Age of Calamity as long as it runs better.

I practically don't even consider AoC to be a legitimate retail video game with how poorly it runs.

It's not that bad, geez lol. Slow down in musou games is the norm so maybe I'm not as bothered.

Hyrule Warriors on Wii U was about the limit for slowdown I could take. It was slow sometimes but it was acceptable. Age of Calamity on Switch was basically unplayable at times because of the slowdown.

"Not that bad", it can't consistently stay above 20, its pretty terrible even by Musou standards. I straight up can't play it without getting queezy.

Did they ever fix it up through patches? I just played through it this past month. I even played about half of it in co-op >_>

No, it still runs very bad. It just bothers people to different degrees.

AoC is when I stopped taking the Switch seriously as a video game console. I would never buy a game on Switch at this point unless it's exclusive. I've even decided not to buy games I was looking forward to, like NMH3, because I felt the framerate meant the game wasn't worth playing. Boy was I happy when they announced the PS5 port lol.

Honestly I think some characters just had better performance than others. Playing as Hestu basically caused my Switch to catch fire it was lagging so hard.

But I was also playing it right around the time I got a PS5 so it might have been extra jarring to switch from smooth 60fps games to a game in the 15 fps range.

I feel that. I used to almost always go for the Switch version of games if I could, but that's pretty much flipped now. When people say the Switch is fine and doesn't need a revamp or updated version, I just ???

I would legitimately be upset about how archaic the Switch feels if it wasn't for games running at a locked (and often doubled) frame rate on emulators day one. These days my habit is to buy the game on Switch to support the devs and then play it through emulators so as to actually have good performance. Kirby and the Forgotten Land looks so good at 60 fps I have to imagine it was intended to be that way all along and they had to slash the frame rate in half when they realized how many chugs their cute cartoon game would somehow cause.

This makes you LESS upset? I'm the complete opposite knowing that these games could be running at 60FPS if Nintendo would just make a modern console.

It's pretty wild! Full disclosure they still do struggle with shader caching, which is an eternal foe of emulation and even plenty of regular games these days. So whenever you see a new effect for the first time, you'll get a one-time hitch. The issue gets less major with every update though and aside from that it's a vastly superior experience to playing on actual hardware, which is totally wild for a console still actively being supported.

I can definitely see this, but the thing that upsets me most with this stuff is knowing I'm being kept from a better version of the game because of Company X's dumb decisions. Being able to play that better version of the game - even unofficially - quells the anger, even if they probably still deserve it.

As fascinating as the premise of this game is (Looks to be a retelling of Three Houses), kinda not interested if it runs like dogshit.

How the hell would they make a modern console? They planned to release a version of the Switch with faster guts last year and had to cancel it because of the chip shortage.

Pretty much every 2D game. There's a reason indie games sell better on the Switch than anywhere else, and why Silksong is one of the most anticipated games.

Played the first two chapters. I don't play handheld ever but did the prologue handheld just to see. It seems to run a liiiiitle worse handheld, but may have just been a trick from the poor resolution. Game wasn't exactly running like a dream docked, but it was consistent, even when shit was really popping off on screen. Definitely much better than the aforementioned alternatives.

Really gonna gonna have to save scum a demo huh?

Are they actually decently integrated this time with the rest of like.. Everyone else?

Is the demo something that will transfer over to the main game? Those are the only kinds of demos I'll bite on.

Yep, it's a large starting chunk and will go right into the main game.

Soooo get back to 3H and finish it first.

I kind of accidentally discovered how comically easy it is to grind on random battles against enemies with 0 hit rate or 0 damage and went overboard with it.

Major spoilers (and major shifts in plot development for this narrative) begin in the last half of the 3rd combat session.

I'm curious with the wait until the full release now (and you know people are going to spend hours trying), how well are you able to do against Byleth in the first chapter? Granted I've only done that level once myself so far, so I'm not sure what strict limits on time there might be.

On that note though, Three Houses makes you well aware what kind of reputation Byleth had pre-main story, but it's still interesting what direction they take in the first chapter, going full horror movie with your allies dying one by one off-screen, screaming warnings to flee. You'd never think they were a Fire Emblem protagonist based on this alone!
