Yep! Finally picking Kingdom Hearts II back up since Christmas. I know a lot of you were interested in my adventures through the series, aggravated as I got sometimes. I'm now playing it on Twitch!

playing again tonight

Last night i made it up to Xaldin who proved to be a bit of a brick wall for me (a quick look online tells me he has a bit of a reputation for that). I had already been playing for almost two and a half hours so I decided to call it a night and before next time I go in I'll look up the strategy for him (I figured it out a bit... on my final attempt I got him to less than 50% HP, close to 1/3) and maybe grind a little bit too.

There's only one trick about using the Charge/Jump reaction command that can make the battle easier but it can still be hard to do.

Xaldins data battle is easier then his story battle comparatively. Roxas as well.

I am by no means a bad KH player, I have beaten E all the secret bosses in Coded in less than 30 seconds. And I will tell you flat out if I die and Mickey shows up before Xaldin, I purposefully lose because I think I may need him 2 or 3 times during that battle. He is the clear Come to Jesus moment for the series.

I've been avoiding using Mickey because it kinda struck me as like a hand-holding mode when it first showed up. Is that not the case? Is it gonna be painfully difficult if I refuse to use Mickey later on?

no. If you get past Xaldin you will never feel you need Mickey.

heck, if you get past Xaldin, I think he can only appear 2 more times, one against the Grim Reaper which is fair, and then another against a fight that no one should EVER die in.

I used mickey my first time through. Multiple times if it let me

Taking another stab this morning

It took me about an hour and a half worth of tries between the other night and this morning, but I beat Xaldin without using Mickey.

Also, I wrapped up the revisit of the Pirates world.

Good for you. Its probably the second hardest non secret Boss fight in any of the original games. (Not the final mixes. That bastard is harder than Xaldin, thats for sure)

I guess I am playing the Final Mixes because I'm playing them on the PS4 collection.

Yeah. You are. The only thing that ever were not fibal mix versions was the original PS2 print of KH and KH II Japanese version and Western versions. All the other times the the games have been done they have been Final Mix. So youll meet him then.

(Ursula, Dragon Maleficent, the enemy hoard before Ansem), while others that are apparently notorious brick walls for first time players I did in just a couple tries and didn't find to be all that bad (Riku, Ansem part 2).

I THINK I remember hearing that KH2's final boss is arguably the easiest final boss in the series... am I remembering right?

I'm surprised that was the feedback on Dragon Mal - lots of folks in my experience tend to think of her as one of the tougher fights in the game.

Dragon is BS if you dont spam stop. Riku II is probably the third harshest non secret boss in original games in the series. The Ansem fights are terrible, Ursula is a noob killer for sure, and the hoard before the final door is probably the hardest thing in the proud/critical plus version of the first game.

The ones that are definitely harder are Ansem, Ansem again (CoM and Re CoM) Marluxia (CoM) Xion,Terra Xehanort (BBS both Final story and Terras story) Xemnas (DDD) and then Rikis entire gauntlet at the end of DDD, Demon Tide (0.2) Master Xehanort (III) Master Xehanort as Kairi (Remind) and OBVIOUSLY Yozora (Remind)

The ones that are debatable are Marluxia (ReCoM) Roxas (Coded) Venitas (Aquas final boss) Vanitas (Ventuss final boss) Dweller of the Dark (BBS last episode)

And the ones flat out easier are Riku (358/2 days) and Master Xehanort (Melody of Memories)

Ansem in Re CoM is ridiculous. Virtually everyone has to grind to beat him because you go there such low level, and he has beaten me at level 99 on critical multiple times.

Ansem in ReCOM took me a few tries and it was definitely nerve-wracking a bit but he didn't make me ragequit or anything. Stealing your cards (that was him right) was bs.

I Cant remember if Ansem stole your cards or not. Marluxia absolutely did.

I had tons of trouble on every Riku fight of original CoM, but if you know how to use the card system and just use zeros to break everything that's problematic, it's hard to get hit.

Riku is way harder on the GBA version. Ansem
is WAY harder on the PS2 version.

Well I don't normally stream on Sunday nights, but I'll probably go back on tonight since I'm feeling on a roll with this (probably around 8pm or 9pm Eastern).

I wouldn't blame you for forgetting. I don't recall much leading up to the fight in Re:Coded.

It's like you beat him, then the ending rolls and you're like, "oh... that was final boss?".

Still separate entities that should be treated as such. It's misleading to say just Roxas is the final boss of something.

I'm going on tonight around 8pm Eastern. Unusual for me to be playing something other than Mario 64 on Saturday night, but it will certainly be continuing my KH2 playthrough.
