I hate Game Theory so much

Every now and then he does an "I'm stumped, help me internet" theory on FnaF and his fanbase goes absolutely bonkers. His latest video is on a new FnaF short story which is about.... a FnaF obsessed geek investigating a real world connection to the game universe... or something. MP is basically convinced that there is an easter egg or ARG in a small town in Utah and has enlisted his viewer base to "investigate". I'm guessing kids are going nuts calling random businesses listed there and asking dumb questions

Havent watched a game theory episode in years. Once he started going all in on fnaf videos and branching out to other stuff I lost interest

If Scott Cawthorne and whatever company he is a part of were to stop milking the FNAF franchise harder than Bethesda does for Skyrim/Rockstar does for GTA5, MatPat would probably stop milking it as well.

He was playing some "undertale like" game, didn't have the name in the title or linked to it, only had a small part in the description for it and even named the studio wrong while like 75% of the tags and links were for undertale which was completely irrelevant.
Devs politely called him out on it, he immediately goes on the defensive and justifies it with "oh it's fine cause we never link games we play" and then went "my employee's handle that thing and I never go over it because why would I" and then only after all the backlash he went "ok I learned from this and we"ll start linking stuff in the future". Then Toby Fox had to call him out on it. That is also the first time ever that his employees were brought up.

The dude has the power to sic his fanbase on innocent people regardless of whether he outright tells them to or not. Just the mere suggestion of an ARG is going to rile them up despite all of the evidence theres nothing there

Kinda like how Dream pretends hes being subtle in getting his followers to attack his detractors and then washing his hands of all responsibility over it

Mostly kids being the absolute big brain geniuses that they are and that's what happens when you hint even a little bit that your biggest user base can "help solve a big case" that's likely bullshit about something they are very interested in.
This isn't even the first time that this has happened because of FNAF so he should know better.
Also only one person before you mentioned spam calls so would take it with a grain of salt.

It truly confounds me how FNaF is still a thing.

I liked the lore of the first FNaF game. I even liked the MattPat video where he made a pretty reasonable theory about it paralleling a real life murder that happened at a Chuck E. Cheese.

But then it became about souls and some kinda cybernetics expert and all the story is hidden in these four second clips that you have to play nine hours to get and it's just who gives a fuck.
