...Man, I didn't realize that the Phantom Thieves were all Batman, with that big plan of theirs to get the MC out of his assassination. But this is the second time that the series has done the "nice cop ally is actually evil" thing, so hopefully they refrain from that in P6. Still, it was rather hilarious that my Confidant rank with Akechi still went up as he was about to shoot me in the head.

I'm also glad that the game finally acknowledged the whole "pancakes" thing from much earlier in the story; I noticed it right away when it happened, but the game seemingly ignored it.

But with the time I had left, I doubt I'll be able to make much more headway with the other Confidants; the only non-required ones I have maxed out are Ryuji's, Mishima's, and Hifumi's (whom I chose to shack up with), though Ann's, Tae's, Ouya's, and the Wardens' are also close to being completed. Doesn't help that I'm gated out of moving forward with some of them (my Social Stats are all at Level 4, except Knowledge which is maxed out). I guess that's what New Game+ is for, though...

Anyway, what is Shido's Palace like? I have to meet with five people in there to move to where the treasure is.

Sucks you missed out on not maxing out the politician bro's confidant/the sun.....his stops early since he is campaigning in the last gameplay month, so you won't be able to see him at all doing shido's palace. Ms. kawakami's/the temperance also stops early at the same time as the sun's, so you won't be able to max her's either.

*Kawakami is by far the most important confidant in the game to max out imo. When you get her last skill, she gives you a massage that allows you to go back out at night when you are tired, meaning day time activities that will take an entire day like going to mementos will only spend the afternoon time. Also her being able to wash clothes/cook curry/make coffee/make thieving tools is also a good time saver. The fortune teller lady is the second most important since you can constantly pay her to double of the rate in with your social stats and bonding stats increases.*

Loooong. Save often since there is some hard hitting mobs later on in that dungeon. You WILL get sick of the palace's theme song by the end of it.

I started his right before we sent the Calling Card for Sae, so yeah, sounds like I have absolutely no chance of going forward with his.

Sucks for Kawakami, though. If I do a NG+, I'll definitely focus on finishing hers ASAP.

*Spoilers for Persona 5 and Persona 5 Royal*

Akechi likely dies near the end of Shido's dungeon. The Royal version of Akechi after he dies is very likely a cognitive being created by Maruki when he gains partial control of the Metaverse after Yaldabaoth dies.

Ah, well, the extra semester added in Royal is okay but honestly feels kinda fanfictiony. It also doesn't get mentioned at all in the sequel which kinda calls into question if it's even canon.

I think Royal is only fanfictiony superficially. The fanfictiony parts actually benefit the story.

The fancitiony parts are part of Maruki's ideal, but fake world.

Well, I managed to secure the route to the Treasure in one go, thanks to all the SP items I had on-hand, including the battle-only Mystery Stew. Glad I'm done with it; it really was an endurance between the enemies, the mouse parts, and the boss rush at the end.

It's crazy how the game just sics the Cleaner, Akechi's minions, Akechi himself, and then Loki!Akechi on you all in row with no opportunity to save or--in the case with the Akechi battles--heal inbetween. If you don't have ways to deal with SP, you'd really be in a bind. However, Girimekhala--a demon/Persona that I was never fond of in past SMT games--really came in clutch here, as he pretty much blocked just about everything Loki!Akechi threw at Joker, except of course for Megidolaon.

Kind of a shame what happened to him, but I find it morbidly amusing that Akechi's Confidant maxes out right before he gets shot to death. Then again, the way his Confidant was increasing towards the end was rather weird anyway; he says that he's going to shoot you in the head as he's pointing a gun at you, and somehow that means that your bond with him is getting deeper.

Anyway, I'm wondering if I should send the Calling Card right away, or wait until the last moment.

It doesn't really matter as long as it is in time. The election is on a set day so you don't get any weird story shenanigans like Futaba sleeping for 28 days in a row if you clear her palace right away.

However, you may want to send it earlier because I think party members eventually refuse to hang out for social link rank ups if it isn't sent yet.

Good job doing it in one sitting. Shido's Palace isn't that hard but it's a different story if you're doing it all in one day.

Akechi's confidant stuff could've been done better for sure. They tried to make him ***P4 spoilers*** Adachi 2.0 and what we got was more like a diet version of him. Royal remedied this a bit though.

I don't think Akechi ever came off as an Adachi wannabe to me. Adachi was essentially "doing it for the lulz" and was content to sit back and watch crazy shit happen. Akechi takes things into his own hands and is trying to get back at the world.

Yeah, I figured. Guess I was a bit paranoid that the game would do what Persona 4 did and automatically skip the remaining days if you went for it sooner than later.

I really was tempted to leave because due to how SP items are in general, I was concerned about using them, but since I don't think I have much of the game left, I didn't see much point in hanging onto them for this long.

That's true, but the whole "detective pretending to be carefree is actually a bad guy" thing fits both of them. Plus they both act like crazy people after their reveals.

Does it? As far as I remember, the first part of the fight is an instrumental version of Throw Away Your Mask, and the second part (which is mostly scripted) plays the vocal version of that song. I don't remember I Believe playing at any point.

It happens when the Phantom Thieves try blocking Adam Kadmon's super attack to distract him while Joker flys up to shoot Maruki. IMO it should of only played during that since a lot people are just going to run up the stairs before the final boss fight anyway. It works a lot better in final boss fight since that part is basically a cutscene so the music is going to sync up very well.

Try to get some of those SP restoring accessories from the doctor if you ever decided to play base persona 5 again. These are usually how you can sort of have a easy time doing any palace in 1 run pretty comfortable. (palace 1 being the exception since you are understandably broke as fuck at the beginning of the game, lol. One daying it was pretty damn rough. On my first time playing persona 5 I managed it but I did some crazy crap like intentiolly letting my characters fall asleep to the one demon, might have been the succubus lol).

Even if you only buy like 3 of them they are still mad useful since you just pass them around as the characters need SP.

I say base persona 5 because in royal they actually give you a lot of options for easy SP. That, and money gains from regular battles is way, way higher that you would be able to buy 99 SP restoring drinks out vending machines and whatever else mad fast.

Oh yeah, I'm going to do one more playthrough of the game, but after that, even if I do get a PS5 sometime this year or next, I'm probably not going to play Royal for a good while, because of just how long a playthrough takes, especially on the first go (I'm almost at 100 hours as it is).

This game has already eaten up enough of my leisure time. lol

I'm going to at least max out what Confidants I can, and Tae's definitely close to being at the end, so I'll see what I can do there.

I agree, the entire add-on semester in Royal is really weak and felt like it had none of the effort or care the content in the base game has.

Royal's ending is bad as in the literal last few minutes are bad. The rest of the ending is really good.

The only real bad parts are that Sumire just kind of leaves and Joker leaves by train instead of going on a road trip. It puts a sour taste on the ending but doesn't really ruin the rest of it.

...And it's over.

Shido wasn't as hard as I thought he'd be, but I did have to use my last Soma to get everyone's SP back up for healing and buffs/debuffs. Didn't expect him to go all Toguro on us during his last phase, though. And even go as far as to temporarily kill himself with an experimental drug to try to kill the Phantom Thieves at the end.

So, now I have 22 days of free time until the ballot count...

...Also, something I was wondering, but what happens to Akechi's body? Does it disappear with the Palace, get sent somewhere in Mementos, float around in a void, or get spat back out to Reality somewhere? I wonder if the game will address that? (Especially since people will notice that a popular TV personality has suddenly disappeared without a trace.)

Yeah, they both know that the Thieves can hear Morgana's speech, but I can only imagine what was going through their heads seeing this cat give this explanation of their plans but only hear it as cat sounds.

Yeah, they both know that the Thieves can hear Morgana's speech, but I can only imagine what was going through their heads seeing this cat give this explanation of their plans but only hear it as cat sounds.

You would think they would just take them to Momentos for a few seconds and then these communication issues would be solved.
