But when George Floyd died the fucking Internet basically turned off for a whole day where everyone stood in solidarity with the BLM movement, posting messages calling for accountability in race relations among law enforcement and many YouTube channels shut down for a whole day, refusing to upload new content outside of a black banner with white text.

Why can't the massacre of several children prompt a similar response calling for the end of widespread civilian firearm ownership? How is this less serious of an issue and why hasn't there been a unified response? If anything shouldn't this cross even more cultural lines and strike a deeper chord than racial injustice? No one of any one creed or group died that day, it was just a group of children and their educators who could have been from any background.

And I say this as someone who actually doesn't want to be restricted on the firearms I can own but even I accept that other people have basically ruined what could have been a cool hobby for me and we just need to stop.

Yes but there are corrective actions that are not being taken to solve this issue that people could stand behind. Showing that there are things more important than just letting the wheels of society keep on turning without at least trying to show a sign of unity to those in charge that change is being demanded and that is the priority. Just a for a moment in time, if nothing else, where everyone is just saying one thing together.

For the same reason unions are gone, the manufacturing sector is offshore, wages are stagnant, housing is unaffordable, and healthcare is unfeasible.

Because politicians do not care about passing legislation that helps the general public.

They care about helping lobbyists and getting to make money on insider trading.

Its because there are two political parties and the politics have boiled down to absolutes. Reason doesnt get people elected so it will never be considered as part of a solution.
