Lol. I have no debt, and kinda laugh at people with 100K debt on a shitty degree, but damn that's a SLAP to the face. That's barely the interest on most of these peoples' loans.

I kinda saw that one coming. I don't think he ever really cared about this issue or really wanted to do anything about it. $10k would be a token gesture to try to appease people and to say that he did something.

If y'all want to see how to do student loans the right way, look at New Zealand.

No credit checks (beyond "you can't get it if you're currently bankrupt"), no interest unless you leave the country, and on the flipside you can't keep racking up more and more if you're not actually succeeding. Also repayments are tied to your income and essentially just come out as if they were a slightly higher tax rate.

Nothing's going to happen. Just more fluff that the President is spewing and people eat it up everytime.

I am sort of in the same boat, but I feel bad for people who owe money on a degree. Society told us growing up, go to college or else youre going to be broke.

The generation who told us this paid much less for tuition and housing and these are people who many of us trusted growing up. It wasnt that they gave us bad advice, but rather that times changed and a bunch of people got screwed over. This is the fault of the government for allowing tuition costs to rise to such outrageous prices and for allowing banks to offer these types of loans to people who arent even old enough to buy a pack of cigarettes (in my state).

I am in same situation. I saw the $2,000 stimulus checks, weed being legalized in all 50 states, even Bidens Build Back Better not happening. So felt I shouldnt hope to be bailed out by government if they cant even do those promises and paid off my loans.

Can I have 10k of my mortgage forgiven?

They probably skimmed back due to the cost of war and purchase of weapons.
