Wow. I'm really liking this so far.

I was surprised the Grand Inquisitor seemingly has already died and without a fight. I was hoping to see a lot more of him and his light saber skills.

well, you do realize the show is all about the black girl Inquisitor Reva anyway. Shes the big deal for the show if you havent noticed

He's either not dead or he gets replaced by a guy of the same race. Grand Inquisitor appears in Rebels which takes place after this show by several years

the Kenobi show is all about Reva anyway

Also I just wanna say, Ewan was so good in the scenes where Leia reminded him of Padme, and when Obi-Wan finds out Anakin survived.

So far so good. I think it would've been better if they've given more of Reva's motivation or backstory in the beginning. I'm guessing she was one of the jedi kids, but right now without knowing why she wants Obi Wan, it just makes her seem like a lame villain.

Based off what we saw, I assume she wants him just so the other Inquisitors stop treating her like trash. He's the highest profile Jedi any of them could possibly find save maybe Yoda, and it's personal for Vader.

btw that little girl was great, parts of her performance reminded me of carrie fisher.

Was that Flea of Red Hot Chili Peppers in episode 1 of Kenobi?

Im mostly liking it so far. Some of the dialogue is not great but its Star Wars, thats sort of par for the course at this point.

McGregor is great, Rupert Friend was solid as the Grand Inquisitor, Joel Edgerton absolutely stole his few scenes as Uncle Owen. Im not super impressed with the Third Sisters actor Mose Ingrams performance so far, but shes been terrific in other stuff (Queens Gambit, Tragedy of Macbeth) so Ill chalk it up to the writing/directing coming up short. The child actor is above average for a child actor, no real complaints there.

Seems like its just ambition to me. The other inquisitors pointed out that shes the least of them, she comes from an apparently inauspicious background, she knows Obi-Wan is the highest priority for Vader, and she sees it as an opportunity to get in his good graces and move up in the world. A little weak as far as character motivations go, imo, but its not nothing.

Pretty solid start, IMO. I'm liking young Leia and that was a good reason to drag Kenobi away from Tatooine (the forest chase scene was almost as bad as the BoBF vespa chase though, lol). Obi-Wan learning Anakin survived, the looks between him and the old clone trooper, Leia reminding him of "an old friend", "I'm not even a real Organa", etc., lots of good little emotional tugs so far.

Reva isn't really grabbing me so far. "Killing" the grand inquisitor also felt like a cheap way to get him out of the way temporarily (we know he's not dead), but if it helps Reva to have more interesting screen time and perhaps the reason to bring Vader into the hunt then that's fine.

Finished episode 2, Ewan is absolutely killing it. Him learning about Anakin was just beautiful.

Reva is not doing much for me so far, and I feel like they made her do weird backflips running around to try to make her seem more badass, but it just did the opposite for me. Hope her character gets better as we move along.

I'm curious where the episodes go from here. Is it going to take the whole episodes to get Leia back home, or will it happen relatively soon so that there's more Vader/Kenobi storyline. Or some mix of both.

Two chase scenes where adults can't keep up with a 10 year old girl.

Leia running through the city was giving me so much damn anxiety lol

First two episodes were fantastic

Obi-Wan telling Leia she reminded him of Padme got to me a little bit.

It's good stuff, and Ewan is hitting home-runs. He's playing the downtrodden, reluctant Obi-Wan I would expect to see following the fall of the Jedi.

The scenes when he learns that Vader is still alive are just...mwah.

Actually what makes this so endearing to me is the fact that while hiding out on tattooine he's making a living from being a meat cutter. Dude is literally doing my job on a desert planet. Are they selling his knife yet? I need to add that to my set at work

Calling it now: at some point Leia will tell Obi-Wan he's her only hope, giving more sentimental meaning to the "Help me Obi-Wan Kenobi. You're my only hope." message

Leia's message in a New Hope is all about helping her because he knows her father. Why not mention their own past together.. it was as if they didn't know each other (in the message carried by R2).

I think you're trying to find too many problems. Nothing in Leia's recorded message suggests she didn't know Kenobi personally.

It was pretty formal and impersonal. She used his connection to her father to jog his memory and not herself. No big deal but it's obvious this show is a retcon because originally they didn't really ever interact.

A matter of circumstance, because she never actually laid eyes on him until he was seconds away from dying.

On the other hand it explains why she cares enough about him to call her son Ben.

Maybe at the end of their journey together hell use the Force to wipe her memory of him for both of their protection

Not really because she still didn't have any contact for another decade and didn't interact with him prior or even after his death. It still seems kinda random. Naming him after her dad would make more sense, or even Luke. Or her mom.

But yes obviously this stuff was added afterwards. There's plenty of examples like this throughout Star Wars. But there's enough wriggle room for it to work.

Um, you know she knew Obi-Wan was on Tattoine, right? That's why she made a message directly addressed to him and why the ship was close enough to the planet for an escape pod to make it there.

The message was a hologram. There's absolutely no reason to talk about how Ben fought with her dad in the Clone Wars if she had a personal connection to him herself.

She's also an Imperial Senator. Her life in recent times has been about formality. She also hasn't seen him in eight years.

You're trying too hard on something that's unprovable about "what she would do".

Focus on the fact that eight years later Kenobi looks like he's 70+ if you need something to pick at.

the stress of chasing Leia around probably aged him about 6 years alone

It's really doing a great job of blending the OT and the prequels together, stylistically.

Im not loving it as much as some people, but its nice seeing Ewan McGregor again.

I liked some small parts but honestly its pretty bad and stupid so far.

Like just as an example what in the flying fuck are they thinking with those Leia chase sequences lmao, took me right out and they somehow thought we needed to see it multiple times. And the main bads parkour is lame as fuck, but wasting a ton of time on ugly, shitty action scenes seems to be the going strategy for Disney shows.

My theory on Reva: in the opening sequence one of the Jedi children was a black girl. Im thinking that was her, and she wants Kenobi so she can get close to Vader and then kill him to avenge her friends.

She knows Vader is Anakin Skywalker, because she saw Anakin Skywalker murdering her friends at the temple and saw Palpatine talk to him afterwards calling him Vader.

Apparently she's great in other films she's been in, so it's probably just the direction.
