Mary Rose Madigan - maryrosem on Instagram - was cruelly body-shamed by a guy she had just slept with. In a person essay for MamaMia, she claims he told her: "Youd be even hotter if you lost weight. I mean, you are hot now, but youd be even hotter!" "It was one of those moments when my brain had to process it because it seemed ridiculous," she wrote. "How could someone say something like that? I mean, rude doesnt even cover it." She continued: "I had to remind myself that I was enough at any size and that my value and hotness cant be measured by the size of my jeans. The only thing that needed to change was his behaviour towards women. Still, I was worried this was the price I was paying for dating as a plus-size woman." The man accused her of "overreacting" to his remarks and being too sensitive, she further added. "It really cemented the fact that his words had nothing to do with my body and everything to do with him," she concluded, in an inspiring message of body acceptance. Her words come as the body positive movement was inspired by Lizzo's words in an interview earlier this year. In her People interview, she said: I think I have a really hot body! Im a body icon, and Im embracing that more and more every day. Mary Rose herself admitted she had listened to Lizzo for inspiration, too. Lizzo said: It may not be one persons ideal body type just like, say, Kim Kardashian might not be someones ideal, but shes a body icon and has created a modern-day beauty standard.
