this town is absurd. ordina. after a few tries I managed to take out the invisible hyper mobile tanky strong af assassins. 4 by my count. remembered grabbing a torch a few days ago that claimed to reveal invis enemies. had to slap a faith talisman on but it did the job

these archer chicks were fucking me totally, but I had a stroke of genius. I use radahns weapon art on ground floor, pulling them off the roof. then they're easy pickings.

Different levels of scaling. Typically, you see diminishing returns as you hit each soft cap.

Tuesday, I couldnt scratch her
Yesterday, I could almost get her down a bar
Today, same as yesterday, except now i'm also really good at parrying her

The issue remains when she goes Buppo Stance. I have a greatshield next to my buckler for when she does, but if im anywhere within 50 feet of her, she'll go up down zam zoom all up around me and get me anyway. Just takes 1 hit

I've worked out a pretty good strat so far. Relies on ripostes and the weapon art for Ruins Greatsword. You can chain bounce her with that weapon art if you use it just after her getting up animation starts. However, if she goes Buppo Stance, she ignores it

Tricky. Tricky fight. Looking forward to the weekend so I can practice more than 2 or 3 hours. Can't wait for the fight to be behind me haha

figured out how to dodge Buppo Stance. i have all the pieces i need to solve the puzzle. now i just need to not fuck up in execution

Its an ash of war that is completely broken, a few hits from it will stagger any boss leaving them open to a critical but you must be locked on. Also, if you have the mimic summon, it will use it as well.

oh that's a pretty cool one! unfortunately, I'm "stuck" using my ruins greatsword. it's all i know, and one of two weapons i have upgraded

I have accepted by this point that I am just unable to fight her one-on-one, but I also can't even summon for the fight, because the ash summons are effectively just free health for her, and player phantoms just lose connection after a couple minutes every time and leave you alone with a boss that has twice the health that she normally does.

I may never be able to defeat Malenia.

I beat her with no summons with Rivers of Blood on my first run. But was unable to beat her with the Ruins Greatsword on my second run.

RoB cheese is a line that I'm just not willing to cross. I'm already in uncomfortable territory by using summons.

Is it possible to get the Black Knife set really early? It's near the end of the game I want to sequence break

i didnt think i could either. now after a couple hours of trying per day, i know i can. you can make so much progress in relatively little time. literally the only thing that stops me is her whirlwind assault thing, and even then i can dodge it 50, sometimes 70% of the time

it's pretty fucked up to put in a move that's that hard to consistently dodge tho (imo)

Its the best weapon in the game, an arcane scaling katana blade with a super powerful ash of war.

My first run was blind. I didn't realize it was the best weapon until after I beat it. I just thought it looked cool and I was tired of the str/fth build I had used up until that point.

But yeah she is significantly more difficult if you don't use a status like bleed or frost against her.

There's some kind of fuckery you can do with her tracking if you run around her when she's winding up the attack in midair, but I have no idea how to do it.

Once Waterfowl Dance comes online, the fight becomes more or less entirely about baiting it out from a safe range and attacking in the small window before she uses it again, and I really don't like that.

Yeah, she made me feel pretty low as well. Beating her the first run with RoB gave me a false sense of confidence lol.

The end game bosses were all significantly more difficult without RoB. I was able to beat them all, except Malenia. I fought her for like 5 hours and threw in the towel to keep my sanity.

Throw freezing pots and cursed blood pots as she's ascending, perhaps with pot helmet and talisman as well. While staggered only riposte if you know you can do more damage that way (like with misericord). Also, when she's doing the flower thing is a great time to hurl some pots as well.

I don't have any pots and I can't leave the fight since i count that as giving up. Gotta beat her with what I got

Blood pots work if you proc bleed soon enough, otherwise freezing pots are what you want.

That's a tough one...

And wow your HP bar is small. I had 60 vig both times I fought her.

IMO, it's cheap how she's already difficult, but then she heals whenever she hits you, AND she has two phases.

I'm not saying that she's not manageable, but that's a lot of BS, for me.
