I'm really not, I don't do challenge runs in this games, I just never end up putting into health cuz I'd rather get strong quick. and thank you, it felt like I was goin nuts haha

anyway. I been trying to get to this minor urdtree for a minute now. on the way I found the bad guy eye in the sky from Lord of the rings. luckily I got ol trusty and ol rusty here with me (radahns swords)

I cycle between the Game of Sword, Radahn's swords, and the Ruins Sword depending on situation

if I rune arc and use the Game of Sword weapon art, I have enough HP to summon the mimic! can't wait to see him in action

So unless its changed - strength weapons compared to dex/int weapons were trash against bosses.

ultra great swords and colossal weapons just leave you too open against the many bosses in the game who move and attack all the time.

they needed to scale with strength much better and hit harder to accommodate the slower swing speed.

they are very good in PVP. But for PVE there are so many better options.

but then again - play how you want. But know strength builds are probably the weakest for PVE for most players.

When I first started I went with a high strength build and wanted to use the grafted sword. Eventually I hit a brick wall against the twin gargoyles cause I couldnt kill them fast enough with the slow speed and low DPS.

Switched to dual blood uchi/moonlight katana and it just shreds bosses.

Thats not how this game is designed tho

at this level a point in strength is giving you a fraction of a percentage return. Theres literally no reason to pump strength past where youre at.

like do you whatever but its not a fault of the game that youre using a trash build

also this - the soft cap on main stat is like 40 in this game I believe.

after that youre better off putting into vigor/endurance or if youre playing as a quality build into your second main stat.

if you really want to use a high strength build just get two great shields and use the weapon art that turns you into a literal battering ram to smash everything to pieces.

I just wanna play with what I think looks and feels coolest. I know that's not optimal but that's how I wanna do it. I like to RP in these games, I'm no stat-hound or anything

that's not what I'm referring to. it's a whole thing. the bosses can cancel animations to catch you healing, they'll change directions mid air to hit you once you've dodged, yada yada. I'm doin just fine with my lil 13, but I got problems with those. oh and the multi bosses are p ridiculous. valiant gargoyles took everything I had

I have around 100 poise with everything equipped right. I can eat half the boss attacks now lol

The soft caps for str and Dex are 20/55/80 in Elden Ring.

Yeah. I noticed Dex still giving me 3 point boosts to my weapon. Vitality also curves upwards at first in this one.

honestly i'm not in love with elden ring either. i put plenty of hours into my first run, doesn't mean i loved each one. i hate how the open world compromised legacy dungeons and resulted in a bunch of reused mines and catacombs

I am torn. I love that is open world, and hate it at the same time. It feels hyper repetitive at times too. The difficulty with most enemies appears to be just extra aggression.

Still coming back to it, I have about the same time you have in it. I DO enjoy that just about any build idea I think of is viable, even against meta setups. That was something that was lacking in the Demon/Dark series. It got much better by DS3, but not on the level of this game.

13 vigor, no summons. Not doing a challenge run, I'm just stubborn. I somehow, using jump attacks, guard counters, and my trusty Ruins Greatsword, managed to kill the first lion as the second was on me. Then I killed the second one on one. I felt like the biggest badass ever

Then this fucking chicken comes swooping down at me clucking like a maniac and one shots me.
God. I just now got to the bonfire in the church and holy shit seeing everything it threw at me on the way. Dog mobs, exploding avellyn ballistas, bowmen, teleporting banished whirlwind knights, screaming ghouly summoners, prone ambush dregs, more dogs and teleporty knights. What the fuck.

It's just mean. Just a mean, unfun, unengaging area. Not looking forward to the rest tomorrow.

The game gives you the tools to
deal with these things tbqh

100% block shields and ample iframes are there to balance out things like bosses changing direction midair or whatever

not that there arent some bosses that are some bullshit (I hated castle sol fwiw) but from a balance perspective being able to hold up a shield and completely block all damage from a giant dragon is just as cheap as input reading

if you dont use a shield thats not the games fault

i think tc will do fine if he has already been beating every other boss without getting hit. he even beat astel who has lots of those BS aoe moves.

Maybe only malenia might give tc some trouble since he uses colossal weapon. i've beat her with colossal weapons (hammers) and no summons and found it really tough but my dodging skills are still pretty half ass and i try to play the game more offensively like dmc =]

i think ruins greatsword ash of war can stagger her quite well tho so might not be too bad

I actually farmed astel for a couple ppl almost entirely solo. very fun. his grab is a bit fucky but I think I can reliably dodge it now. when I lay my sign down I bring rot breath with me. I rot him 3x, he gets scarlet, then its a normal fight. he's easy

ok....thru the hidden path the haligtree. thru the consecrated snowfield. it's getting hard not getting hit, even with my ol trusty scorpion shield. I recalled picking up a torch somewhere that has the power to reveal hidden enemies but still this town...

I'm too on edge to keep up tonight. been thru hell in this game, especially considering I did both castle sol and spiritcaller cave today. mean ass game man

i really wish my Alexander wasn't bugged you guys. really sucks
