Saying "Have a Good Day" is a benevolent phrase because it is showing that person that you may care about them and are wishing them well, which could serve as additional motivation for them. Lastly TC I get there are pain in the ass customers sometimes but you sound just as bad if not worse with the "My customers frankly don't deserve the effort from me" and "I don't want tyem to have a nice day". I mean, there are occasions where I'll genuinely sympathize with a customer (such as a week or so ago when one said they were having an awful day because their dog died) but most of the time it's like... just act like you care and that you're somewhat interested, they're generally just trying to talk to pass the time while you scan their shit through or whatever anyway, of course you don't really care (most of the time) if they have a good day or not but with a bit of practice it's easy enough to act like you do.
