Yet somehow most dedicated Christians here are anti-immigrant.

I was told that the new testament was so much better than the old but having just finished a summary of it it's pretty much just an endorsement of the old besides the circumcision and animal sacrifice stuff

It's a fedora meme but the reality is still that most everyday Christians have read very, very, very, very little of the Bible. At best they know the garden of eden story, Babel, Jonah and the Whale, the birth betrayal and crucifixion, and John 3:16. Oh and they'll also know Sodom and Gomorrah to justify their desire to give LGBT the death penalty.

And that's what they remember from church, not that they've necessarily read from the actual pages.

The irony being most Christians are against the type of morals/messages Jesus preached.

I couldn't find solid numbers on Christians alone but only 20% of the US has read the Bible according to a poll from a few years ago.

This country was literally founded by immigrants. And then built by immigrants. Dunno what the issue is.

So pushy on taking the bible as fact but then turn around and decide to be "realistic" when they want to

It's all down to colonialism. They come in, take stuff that belongs to others, and become deeply possessive of the things they have stolen. And most conservative Christians are entitled colonists at heart.
