Ok but the fact still remains that the Steam Deck isnt operating on 4K in handheld either. So again even if you want to argue the media wouldnt impact anything the fact that the Steam Deck doesnt output in 4k must means there exists some technical reason for it not to have it and thus that same reason carries over.

The switch dock upscales the media... It does then follow that a better dock could upscale further.

They probably do that cuz last time they released a normal console to directly compete with PS2 and Xbox, they did the worst out of the 3. So they feel like if they make different console, they can make their own niche in the market and attract the Xbox vs. PS consumers as a side product.

Well there were a number of factors that Nintendo did that ultimately made them lose the "console war" like smaller discs, not being dvd compatible, no online functionality, and a "weird" looking controller (even though I really like it myself). Then there was also the problem that making a Gamecube was more expensive than Sony and Microsoft making a PS2 or Xbox simply because Sony and Microsoft were just much bigger than Nintendo as a whole. It's the reason Sega couldn't compete against Sony, Sony had bigger purchasing power which allowed them to purchase parts at a severe discounted rate. The more money you have the bigger spending you can do which allows for more bargaining power.

So yeah Nintendo doing their own thing was probably the smartest move they have done in a long time.

Steam deck is a PC bro. It supports 4k on literally anything. If it doesn't support 4k on something you attach an egpu and then make it support 4k.

No you're just embarrassed that even when moving the goal post away from your initial ignorant assertion... you were still wrong. It's fine to be wrong. A switch deck can be made to upscale any switch game to 4k, without being outside the realm of affordability.

Almost as if the argument can change huh? And beside you asked for one reason at the start. I gave you one reason even if it might be the wrong reason. That doesnt mean other reasons cannot exist. Life isnt all that simple after all and console are a complex industry of trial and error.

The fact remains it that there is going to be some level
of impractical reasons for a Switch successor to not have 4k right out the gate. But instead of accepting that as a potential youd rather come off more as a troll.

Either by working out DisplayPort over USB-C in the Switch itself, or incorporating mClassic-type tech in the dock.

The existing Switch hardware probably can't do 4k worth a damn through the USB port, even if DisplayPort over USB-C were enabled.
Dataminers suggested it was already enabled.

If they did, it would basically only support streaming video. The hardware just can't do 4k in real time.

While adding additional processing hardware into a dock is possible, on PC it's incredibly expensive. If all you want is to upscale then you don't need to wait for Nintendo to make it. It's already here.

Nope but hey if you guys want to be that way I cant stop you. I can only bring up the facts and the facts are that a Switch successor to do 4K would be impractical due to the nature of the technology. If you want to claim the storage media doesnt play a part and Im wrong fine. I could be wrong about it, it doesnt negate that there is a technology issue with doing so that would most likely stop it from being 4k without some degree of being stupidly expensive or impractical.

Yea I was done with Nintendo after the wiiU of the big 3 Nintendo has definitely been the most incompetent and anti consumer. Great 1st party games and nostalgia has kept them in business I mean pokemon itself can be the biggest game series of all time in the hands of a different company.

What does this even mean? Like I truly do not get your line of reasoning. What do you mean nature of the technology? Why wouldn't it be possible? What makes 720p possible but not 4k? Technology gets better over time. Even mobile phones can probably do 4K these days.

Technology does get better for sure but lets be real its not as fast in some cases then others. With phones are they making games in 4k to play on phones or is it 4k for movies and pictures/recordings? And how much do said phones cost with 4K in them?

See the impractical part would come from the fact we assume that a successor to be the same design to an extent. But in reality even the 4k Systems now are still big systems. And with how the current Switch works all the hardware is literally the system, the dock has nothing in it that boosts anything to the system.

So it becomes impractical because if you were to shove those parts into the system you either make it too bulky or too expensive for the average consumer. And the only other thing I can think would be having the dock house the components but even though it messes with the designs.
