Mind you I just started this game today so I'm playing the latest version after all the hoohaa complaints, following updates ,patching, bugfixes and next-gen update. But seriously, the game is so overlooked in terms of its technical fidelity.

The moment I emerged from my apartment into the open roam of Night City, I was just completely blown away. The amount of NPCs being rendered on-screen. The amount of clutter. The high-rise buildings... All without a single load screen in between. Even GTA V and RDR2 never accomplished something of this scale.

This is truly the one and only next-gen game to truly make full use of next-gen tech. I'm running on a RTX3060 laptop and still got decent 50-60+ fps once I turned off ray-tracing. It's sad how bashed and now forgettable the game has become all because the devs made the silly decision to port to crappy last-gen consoles. Honestly, it would likely have succeeded far better if they just kept the game to PC, PS5 and the xbox series x on release.

Without the bugs etc, it's actually pretty good for what it is.

It's just not what was promised and falls drastically short of what they told everyone it would be. For a self contained story, it's great. The story/characters are honestly fantastic.

But it's not GTA/Skyrim, as was a big selling point of it.

I can't wait to start it on PC, but there's a few games I want to finish first.

I bought it this year cause I love the idea and want to support the devs, and it looks like they're doing good updates. But I am still going to wait until it has even more updates. Plenty of other games in the meantime.

Yeah, with out bugs it's great.

I've been playing on a friend's PS5 and I'm having a lot of fun with it. I use nothing but a katana and put all my points into Reflex, plus I got the double jump and slo-motion augments. I've been having a blast.

I found it pretty enjoyable, but I had to uninstall it to make room on my drive. I'd like to return to finish it at some point.

Nah it's pretty fairly rated. It's nowhere near the game they promised and blatantly lied to everyone about what they were making.

I mean fuck CDPR went so far as to make actual fake gameplay demos that misrepresented what the game actually contained, it wasn't just developers talking up their game like usual.

If I'm not wrong, the devs said this would be their final update already. They have since moved on completely to only working on Witcher 4. The game was 50% off on steam recently

What part of it seemed fake to you? I've only played like 2 hours in so far but everything they showed in the trailer is what you get. The in-game animations interwined as cinematics and no loading screens are just impressive AF. I did see some disappearing NPCs earlier but honestly not that game-breaking to me given how many NPCs there are

Give it time. You seem to be taken by the technological aspects which is fair, I'm talking about how it utterly fails as an RPG and how they marketed it heavily as one then sneakily shifted to "action adventure". There's a lot of reasons beyond bugs why people were upset and felt like it was a bait and switch.

The bugs took all the spotlight from why people were really mad because the last gen console versions were such a shitshow.

Eh, i'd say its slightly underrated but i wouldnt give it a 10/10. I think the launch gave the haters fuel so it got the reputation of being some unfinished 2/10 mess.

Even on launch unless you were on the prev gen consoles it was an underrated game. The city itself looks amazing, the story is good, the voice acting is top notch aside from Grimes, i personally like the customization, and i think overall the game has a great asthetic.

The cons though, are the buggy NPCs which breaks immersion, the lifeless world thats really beautiful but nothing to do aside from the story stuff, the lack of a 3rd person camera with the amount of customization the game has, the weird weather effects, the wonky junk system,

but overall with the updates i'd say the games about a 7/10 to an 8.5/10 if im being generous. Granted i fixed a lot of the issues with mods for PC. For console players id say 6/10-7/10

I might have to go back to it sometime, it didn't seem like a terrible game but Witcher 3 is one of my favorite games ever and I'm ashamed to say I boarded the hype train for this game. Most people who didn't follow it seem to enjoy the game quite a bit, but it was hyped as like the end-all, be-all of video games and totally failed there.

It's decent enough, but the devs were dumb for prioritizing nerfing things left and right in their patches instead of patching half the broken skills in the game, let alone patching the rest of it.

The side activities is pretty much the biggest issue for me. The side stories are very okay. The game spends a lot of time investing in characters around you through the story. And there all a hit, and or miss.

But overall around 80%-85% of the side activities aren't interesting. And they cover at least 50 hours of the 80 I had.

however I will say there are a TON of aspects that I do love about the game. I just don't know if it's worth a second playthrough with all that grinding.

You know what? Just watch the Angry Joe review. Forget the part about the bugs, just remember the amount of shit they promised. And the amount of content in the trailers that never made it to the actual game. The amount of lies they threw everywhere, just so they could get those pre-orders in.

Hell they made an embargo, gave edited copies to people to play before release so they could control the narrative, so they could get that money from consumers who had no idea what was going on behind the scenes.

Not to mention THEY are the ones that promised it on last gen consoles, then OUTRIGHT FUCKING LIED till release, saying it played perfectly on them. They are the ones who fucked up and lied to everyone, and it annoys me when I see topics like this with people who have no idea what actually happened behind the scenes give them such a pass.

I'm sorry. Maybe you can just break it down for me here specifically what was promised and not delivered?
Because if it's about extra cutscenes and dialogues etc... I really couldn't care less... To note people may tend to overplay on their pre-existing emotions (in which case, the bugs) when reviewing

It just got a pretty big patch this year that made it a lot less buggy, but the state it was released in definitely soured its reputation quite a bit.
