I did. Most of the baby brezza stuff and clothes are from Facebook, which is why they're so cheap.

Yeah, kids are expensive in general. Childcare costs are ridiculous too. It's definitely a good idea to get help with the clothes. They go through the different sizes so fast when they're infants/toddlers.

Idk

like I agree with the premise of this topic, but also you have a $430 12 month subscription to a toy box service, premium rockers, stuff like bottle warmers and an extra microwave, etc

you could probably halve the amount of money spent here fairly easily

Oh TC, I'd also recommend getting hand sanitizer if you have family that's going to want to visit and hold your baby. I know people get into all kinds of debates on whether it's necessary, but I say it's better to err on the side of caution. Especially in the first few weeks after birth. After that you can worry less about everything being 100% germ free.

We elected not to have a baby shower because we didn't want to host a party. We figured the party would cost similar amount, and why not just buy it ourselves instead of having our friends pay for stuff.

Yup, I think we bought only like one or two new clothes, because they were so cute (just happened to see it). The rest, we got from friends or got it at a 2ns hand store.

Im assuming youre in a good economic position, cause theres a lot of unnecessary stuff there and some that you couldve gotten way down the road. No newborn is going to play with toys after birth.

Also the 6 diaper boxes. Hopefully you bought different sizes? They outgrow the first stages pretty fast. But you also go through diapers pretty fast as well

Theres a lot of stuff here that reads more like look at the premium stuff well be spoiling our baby with than actual necessary expenses

$35 bottle sterilizer (20-use sterilizer bags are a buck a piece)

$60 white noise machine

$430 toy subscription

etc

You definitely dont need a bottle warmer, especially with a microwave

just put the bottle in a mug of warm water, accomplishes the exact same thing

Lol. No you dont need a bottle warmer. You have a stovetop, right? You have pots, right? Water in pot, put item in. Gets warm.

I exclusively breast fed, never used a nipple warmer whatever that is.

I have 2 kids, I didnt buy nearly the amount of stuff you have. So much of that is never going to get used, or just once or twice.

We microwave a mug of water for 30 seconds, and then we just keep reusing the same mug without washing

heats up the bottle in a few minutes, no dishes

If you plan on formula feeding, the bottle sterilizer and formula mixer are definitely worth it imo. We were gifted a bottle warmer and I rarely used it because we formula fed and the machine made it at the right temp. But if breastfeeding then not a good investment. The subscription is pretty useless for the first year. Also I was gifted a rockaroo (used one from my friend) and my baby hated that thing. Im glad I didnt buy it or the mamaroo. She hated all rockers and such.

We want to breast feed, since it's cheaper, but we have no idea if the wife can breast feed. So we bought the formula mixer as used. We might never use this, if the wife makes enough milk.

That's pretty crazy.... At least I didn't see a "diaper wipe warmer" on your list. I swear, there are people out there marketing the most useless shit for babies. It's worse than kitchen gadgets like egg crackers and automatic banana peelers.

We had one of those expensive 4Mom bassinets you have on your list because someone donated it to us. It worked ok, but it's like buying one of those Dyson bladeless fans. You kind of pay double or triple what a normal rocking bassinet costs because it "looks cool".

Also, WTF is a formula mixer for over $100? Was I doing it wrong mixing two scoops in the bottle and shaking it up by hand?

If you have the money to burn, then all the power to you. Only a few things on your list are really necessary to buy brand new. Infant car carriers (for regulatory reasons), baby bottles, and probably clothes. A lot of the baby "gadgets" and furniture like cribs, changing tables, high chairs, etc-- are all over FB Marketplace by people almost giving them away.

Buy Fenugreek tablets. Then shell have no problem making milk. Do not take any until after the baby is born.

Baby Brezza. We got it used for $100ish instead of $200. Our doula recommended this because she said it reduces bubbles and colic issues vs hand mixing.

We probably spent less than $1000 getting the nursery ready for our daughter and buying the first year's worth of clothes. Goodwills, secondhand stores, Facebook marketplace, etc. Only thing we bought brand new was the crib which was on sale.

Lost her at 24 weeks and still had to deliver which was $5000 after insurance though, on top of the $12,000 in fertility treatments to get her in the first place. The universe can be so cruel.
