I remember back in the day shows had crossovers and characters would some times be on episodes of other shows.

Do they still do that?

Obviously. Family Guy had a Simpsons cross-over a few years ago. Then I've seen commercials for some fire station show having crossovers with some medical show or cop show I think.

It's a cheap, easy way to pop a rating. Same with celebrity guest stars, like Mark Cuban going on Home Economics which they had shitty ads for. (And, having watched a few minutes of Home Ec, seems like a shitty show.)

Apart from the Chicago shows, I can't think of any full length episode crossovers

Animated shows have brief cameos of characters from other shows like Ricky and Morty and Bill Cipher showing up in The Simpsons, Bender and Hank Hill in Family Guy, the Blechers in Archer

I can only think of 2 recent live action shows which did that - Jesse Pinkman (Breaking Bad) in The Office and Black Cindy (Orange is the new Black) showing up in Kimmy Schimidt

Yeah I forgot about those. it seems like during the 90s it was a lot more common. I believe it was even pretty common on TGIF shows as well.

Bones' first season aired 2 years after Buffy's last season.

Wasnt that like ten years ago now?

Simpsons also had the Futurama characters on there shortly after they were on Family Guy too. Man those were both great.

The Chicago series' have been mentioned, Arrowverse already mentioned (I will add they had Ezra Miller cameo as the DCEU Flash on the last major crossover which also had Tom Ellis cameo as Lucifer)

Grey's Anatomy and Station 13 have done some (at least one a season)

911 and 911: Lonestar have done at least one a season

The FBI's on CBS crossover all the time, CBS is big on cross promotion actually: The NCIS's cross over with each other but also bleed into Magnum PI (and MacGuyver and Hawaii 5-0 when they were on) I am personally waiting for the Magnum Blue Bloods crossover. (Blue Bloods has somehow managed to avoid doing any crossovers in the more then a decade it's been on tv)

Funny aside, Katrina Law joined 5-0 during it's final seasons and then after 5-0 was canned she got a part on the og NCIS as a different character despite the team knowing her in her 5-0 role.

The Law & Order's have been crossing over for years.

NBC has actually been doing a shared universe for their comedies recently: Cloud 9 shows up outside of Superstore, Payne Motors logos have been appearing on cars outside of American Auto. Not really a crossover per se, but neat easter eggs that could lead to crossover episodes.

Call Me Kat and Welcome to Flatch are having a crossover this week.

So far Welcome to Flatch has been way better than Call Me Kat has ever been.

they did those to launch the spin-offs. only a small amount of crossover afterwards.
(NCIS is actually a spin-off from JAG, so 3 spin-offs from a spin-off so far)

They try to limit them to one a season, most recent was the NCIS and NCIS Hawaii crossover a couple of weeks ago, which saw the aforementioned Katrina Law return to Hawaii (idk about NCIS LA, stopped watching all the NCIS a few years back just before Linda Hunt retired but then Hawaii dragged me back in to watching a couple of episodes of the og this year)

Flatch looks like it has promise, (only seen the pilot so far) I don't see how they could marry it up with Call me Kat though, audience is completely different market from each other, not to mention the format difference from Kat's traditional single camera, to Flatch's mockumentary style. IDK who thought it was a good idea, but it's Fox and we all know they are powered by the tears of their viewers.

Oh, I am aware, I was a Harm and Mac shipper. Someone did a write up of the Bellisarioverse and how it connects to the Lenkov-verse and the Wolfverse (I had forgotten that the first season of JAG aired on NBC) but I can't find it from a quick google search.

And it might be closer to six or seven, NCIS Australia was recently announced, NCIS New Orleans was cancelled a couple of years ago, there was at least one failed backdoor pilot attempt for an NCIS International and I am fairly certain there was another failed backdoor pilot in there somewhere.

To paraphrase Stephen Colbert whenever he has to talk about NCIS, why is there so much naval crime?
