I am outraged and will not be buying this game I had no plans on buying anyway.

When goddamn GTA says transphobic jokes are going too far, you'd think that people would maybe take a minute to reflect on why that is and work to be better in the future. Jk I'm expecting a bunch of reeeee cries.

I was under the impression that trans people and drag queens were 2 completely separate groups of people with maybe some overlap.

Knowing Rockstar they are only doing this so they can sell another special edition copy of GTA5.

It's not even a joke that was removed, just some random ped models. I don't even remember there being any drag queen peds in the game and I recently 100%ed it.

I think the issue is the conflation that happens by bad actors and then spread around as normal. In that case, it may be better to avoid that entirely rather than assume your player base already has all the info they need to differentiate.

Probably because the damage done by 9/11 and it's aftermath is pretty firmly resolved and finished by now, while transgender people are actively losing rights that cis people take for granted.

Were the npcs in question doing or saying anything offensive, or are they taking them out for the same reason they dont have children npcs?

Many characters in GTA are negative stereotypes. Just quit making games at this point.

Yeah I can for sure see it harmful in that sense. I know too many people can't or refuse to differentiate the groups. I would wonder about backlash from the drag community. Seems like a damned if you do damned if you don't situation.

Anyway, GTAV is still an active player space. It's not a "finished product" because they're clearly still working on it.

Not sure what sort of gotcha you're going for, it was a tragedy but the wars that happened in response to it have been over for several years. Meanwhile trans people keep getting targeted by increasing right wing ideologies across the world.

When you're talking about x contributing to y which contributes to z, then you're both missing the point. Technically speaking we could probably make a thorough enough list of things that would show how the founding of Carthage helped cause a ripple and the chain of events that followed ended in the most recent announcement for that Fire Emblem Warriors game. Thing is, when you're getting that vague in influences it kinda misses the point.

Yeah sure but there was a significant increase directly caused by 9/11. Stop being obtuse.

I vaguely remember these NPCs outside of one of the bars you can go to on your buddy dates. I never gave them much thought, nor do I think this change will affect the experience much, but it is interesting to see where modern day R* draws the line.

Just going off of similar things with other companies, it's possible they did this out of consideration for some of their own employees

Played thousands of hours of this game and never noticed either of those things.
