Given the allegations of corruption that have been raised against several presidents or their families, should we eliminate the problem by making the president so rich he would have no need for more money?

One of the rich people in the early 20th century was asked how much money would be enough. His response was, The next million.

So there you have it. Some people are insatiable and no amount of money would prevent corruption.

Only way to end corruption is for there to be punishment for corruption. Either life imprisonment, or revoke their citizenship.

Frankly I think there are a lot of people who would be surprised to learn that the President of the United States is a job that carries less than a $1 million/year salary. In fact, it doesn't even carry half that.

I voted no, but I wouldn't bitch and moan if it were bumped up to an even half-a-million considering it's the literal President of the United States.

President has so many other perks that put the compensation way about a million.

The mega-rich seem more corrupt than anybody so this would probably backfire

At the very least, a lot of people would be tempted to become President by illegitimate means if it meant that kind of payout
