I am a 100% achievement grinder I guess. Like every CoD I play do nothing but work towards all the camos and once I have them I almost always will never pick the game up again.

The problem with Battle passes is they always make me want to grind the pass out to the point where I don't play other games I may want to play because its time I could be used to grind the pass.

I only like them if you can buy them without spending real world money. Otherwise they can burn in hell.

I liked it when they came out and Fortnite was the only game doing them, it was also very generous with it's experience gain.

Now they suck ass, they prey on that FOMO to sucker you into playing for hours on end to grind for what used to be included in game by default.

I gotta say, COD BLOPS 4 had a great battlepass that never got any attention, it was a $60 game that gave you the battlepass for free, because you bought the game, no $20 charge ontop of what you payed.

Wow, had no idea CoD picked up the pass system.. then again, I had no idea it was included into a Bomberman game either >.<

I tend to have this problem, which is why I only buy them when I know I want something from one of the key tiers

For example; I have the physical aegis from a couple of Dota battlepasses. (and they're rather pretty)

Genshin's battlepass can be completed by playing less than an hour a day.

They come across as predatory to me. It's a model built around pressuring the player to keep playing because they're afraid to miss out, rather than because they're having fun. I spend a lot of time playing games, but I hate it when games actively incentivize you to play regularly.

I seriously have been at 100 on this current battle pass with like 62 days left for the season. Now its a lot less than just 62 days but think about that Ive been sitting at 100 for over 2 months.

cod battle pass is easy.

They're only good if you can grind all rewards for free. I use to play one where you could buy it for in game currency and make enough back for the next one. I quit when they changed it so you couldn't make enough. Plus shitty devs taking months to fix broken characters.

The entire point of them is to make players want to play more, and make them more invested in playing. If they can keep you coming back at least once every few days, you are more likely to continue and more likely to spend money in the future.

Even when Fortnite was the only one doing it, they wanted the same damn thing continuous players that are more likely to buy, and even if they stay F2P it keeps the servers full of players and keeps the game active.

I used CoD as an example. The only battle pass I am involved in is WarThunder.
