What is Game of the Month Club?
Game of the Month is a community project open to all B8ers where users share, discover, play and/or discuss a select few games every month. The games featured each month are chosen by YOU the users (and Lady Luck)

The Basics
- Each month will usually feature three games that were chosen via a random drawing from a pool of games that users nominated
- For each game you beat, you get a cool point on our just-for-fun standings as well as a nomination for next month's randomized drawing
- In order to receive the point and nomination, you must beat said game within the calendar month
- If you beat one of the current month's games in the previous month, you can apply for a "recently beaten waiver," but you will only receive a point and no nomination should you do so
- Drawing for next month's games is usually on the 25th
- If you periodically keep us posted on your progress and/or talk about different aspects of the games, then everyone will think you are super awesome!

Nomination Rules
- You get one nomination automatically each month
- You receive additional nominations each month for every featured game that you beat
- Each game you nominate has to be unique from all other nominations and cannot include a game that has already been selected for GotM
- Each game must be a standalone game that can be acquired and played on its own (aka cannot be DLC/expansion that requires the base game)
- Nominations only carry over if you beat a featured game after the drawing for next month's games but before the end of the month
- You have 9 supports you can use throughout the year. Your only limitations are that you can't support your own nomination, and you can only use one support per game per month

I've begun GS:TLA. I'm very overwhelmed! So much of the map opens up at once! It's much more open-world compared to the first. For what it's worth, I've found Menardi's ship and now need to go find a working one.

I started Everybody's gone to the rapture last night and spoilers it's actually pretty bad.

the walking speed is horrendously slow, and there's almost no practical difference between that and the """"running"""" speed, probably at least in part to pad out the run time. Also instead of trying to lead you into interesting locations, it seems to like to lead you around in circles again probably just to waste your time and pad out the runtime.

the lack of interactivity also bothers me a lot, like you can't pick up say fliers and things to get a closer look at them or try to open doors and such that aren't already open. there's a ball on the ground and there's no physics to it, you can't interact or move it so why even bother putting a ball in there to begin with? it just makes it seem really artificial in a video gamey way.

don't really find what's going on to be particularly interesting or compelling either.

oh, also apparently it doesn't actually let you manually save and exit and then continue from where you left off (there's just an autosave at certain points) so you have to be careful about not losing progress if you don't have the time or aren't going to try to finish it all in one sitting.

I'm not surprised that it's bad given it is the same developers who did the dreadfully boring Dear Esther

This is going to be a slow month lol

I've been playing some Deemo. It's kind of nice revisiting it now that I'm a fan of Mili, since they have quite a few songs. It'll be a pretty trivial game to beat, Though. Really just a matter of time. You don't exactly need to do well at the songs for progression (which is probably good, considering I suck!) and the non-music section is very limited in the original. I think Reborn added a lot on that front, but I'm only playing the vanilla version.

Haven't started Rapture, yet. Honestly I've really just been continuing to play Elden Ring.

Sometimes those old Official Strategy Guides end up giving off information so badly and incorrect. I just wanted to share this one for Golden Sun. This is something regarding just before Madra. There's a Djinn just outside the town, Iron. Well, not only does the guide call it Iron the Mars Djinni (it's a Venus Djinn, but it also says it's in the Northwest after Indra Cavern (where you get Zagan). It's not, it's just outside of Madra itself.
I just felt like sharing that bit of info that made me have to look it up online instead. That said, I entered Madra itself, did some running around inside it before I had to quit earlier today and I was just staring at my guide book, which made me want to message about this here.

This might be what kills my desire to play Rapture. It auto saves so damn rarely. I can leave my system on suspend, but at some point I'm going to feel like playing Elden Ring, and not feel like searching for another hour (somehow not an exaggeration.) to find a scene that activates it.

Still enjoy the game a lot. It makes me want to buy Cytus Alpha as well, but there are still approximately 8 billion songs in this that I've never played, so I should probably do those first.

what an ordeal. It's true; your waking speed is too slow in a way that's fine at first but hair pullingly frustrating by the end, the balls of light are confusing to follow, and trying to explore gamer style at the start rather than accepting the guided tour caused me to mess up cutscene order and probably miss half of them. All the trophies are stupid and the map is way too large and the unusual way of doing dialogue with just sparkles made the plot hard to follow which isn't the same thing as being artistic.

Yet the world was impressively detailed, the atmosphere was cool when I wasn't just lost, and the plot and voice work had clear love behind it. This game desperately needed a smaller map and a faster walk speed; there is a decent to great game in here that's about a fifth of the length.

I have Fallen Order and would like to play it but Im not sure if Ill have the time for it next month.

I can probably beat SA2 again just for this and complain about Tails levels again, ahaha~

That said, running low on days to beat GS and I still haven't left Aqua Rock, which was the first thing I was doing after getting the ship.

That was the dungeon I did this morning. I've gotten the first prong, and done the first dungeon required to get each of the others, so I have to do the second dungeon for each of those still.

It's overwhelming to me how nonlinear this one is compared to the first.

I'm just thankful I have the players guide, since while it's generally nonlinear, there is a lot of "you should really do things in this order" due to required psynergies.

I've had a guide from this site open at all times since getting the ship (though mainly just for knowing where to go, and only using it step-by-step if I get REALLY stuck). Also, as with the first game, I've been using a Djinni guide to make sure I get them all.
