It was definitely a mistake letting him come up and accept his award. Even without pressing charges he should have been escorted from the premises and honestly even though it's his first award it wouldn't be unreasonable for them to rescind it.

But hey, maybe when Sean Penn totally follows through on smelting down his award he can give the slag to will to put on his own shelf.

This. I hate when dumb bitches pull the "this sets a precedent" line. No the fuck it doesn't, because literally nobody else has copycatted Will's actions and nobody will either.

There's no precedent to be set if nothing has even happened yet.

I don't have a particular care about what kind of fallout Will Smith gets from this I'm just saying the academy & the rest of the Hollywood moguls don't need Chris Rock's permission for anything.

Long term even if nothing happens I think Will Smith will heavily regret what he did yesterday.

It's also hilarious because it sends the message that women are these fragile people with mindsets of 13 year old girls. That one joke made by a comedian (whose job is to roast people) is apparently so, so bad that her husband has to go up to a comedian and assault him.

Will and Jada are both grown ass people. There is no need for assault.

so he cant sit there and use that as an excuse when he and Jada sat there and filmed a tell all to a national audience.

https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/tv/tv-news/will-smith-lambasted-howard-stern-chris-rock-oscars-assault-1235120757/

What you saw on TV was a guy with real issues, said Stern of Smith. Thats crazy, thats crazy when you cant contain yourself.

You dont provide security? a bewildered Stern asked. You dont have someone come up there? Chris Rock was just trying to make people laugh at the fucking ceremony, which was so long and boring.

Stern also suggested that had a larger, more menacing star specifically Jason Momoa or Dwayne Johnson made the exact same joke, Smith would have remained seated, like a bitch.

Comic Nikki Glaser called into the show and said she was also shocked, adding she was worried about what Smiths actions signal to others who dont like a joke at a club and attack a comic over it.
