Yeah, none of those people that have tried to kill him knew how important he was. Akainu just saw how he rallied people and it made him wary enough to target him. And Aokiji only cared about Robin when they first met

I expect noone in the Marines knew. That this was just a WG/Celestial Dragon secret.

And they probably don't learn about Luffy until Eniea Lobby.

And look at the timeline after that. After Enies Lobby Kuma is sent to make sure they dont escape/survive Moria. But they do and show up to Sabaody at which point Luffy punches a dragon so Kizaru comes and his nephew is also sent to test the Pacifistas. Luffy and co would have died but they are saved by Kuma and Rayleigh (and look how the Dragons later treat Kuma). Kuma sends all the Strawhats to places off the WGs radar. Only exceptions are Brook who isnt a known strawhat, Robin who is immediately taken in by the Rev Army, and Franky who is first spotted with his face blown off so they cant recognize him and then spends his time in a hidden lab

Luffy next appears at Impel Down but by the time that news would have made it to the Gorosei he has escaped. Then he shows up at the war where everyone is too busy to get a message from the elders telling them to focus on the rookie when facing the combined forces of Whitebeard, Ivankov, Croc and Jimbei.

Then he leaves in a sub before reappearing for like 10 minutes to ring a bell flanked by Rayleigh and Jimbei after which he disappears for two years during which no one sees or hears anything from him.

He finally comes back at Sabaody but as soon as he is spotted he runs to his ship and leaves for Fishman Island. Which is currently Big Mom's territory so they cant have Marines there waiting without potentially starting another war with an emperor.

Then he takes a weird exit, Smoker probably doesnt report on Punk Hazard to his superiors but even if he did they are off again before anyone can be sent. Then he goes to Dressrosa where an Admiral and one of the strongest pirates in the world are waiting. He still escapes and once again doesnt go along any of the normal routes disappearing to Zou.

After that he spends the rest of his time in deep Emporer territory picking fights with Big Mom and Kaido. And the WG have also been busy with the Reverie and ending the Warlords. So they havent really had a good chance to take Luffy out. Plus stuff has happened so fast they probably thought they had plenty of time or assumed the Emporers would take care of it for them (which was almost a correct assumption).

So I dont have much issue with them not being targeted more.

I get that. But making a massive spoiler your profile pic on facebook doesn't really qualify there. That is close to going out of your way to spoil people who simply didnt read the manga in the first couple days it was out. People who try hard to avoid spoilers could still be caught by that.

I normally avoid spoilers and only read manga on the weekend so I know I cant go on to anyplace discussing One Piece after like the middle of the week. But it is annoying how people will sometimes act like if you dont read/watch immediately then too bad. Not blasting out major spoilers a day after something came out because people can be busy and not get to something in the first day or two seems like a small ask.

was definitely annoying avoiding spoilers (not here since i just didnt click on the topic, but some discord servers i was on) until there was actually a translated chapter out. would have preferred to wait for the official release but ill just have to reread it there

Imagine the alternate version where Luffy awakens way back in Alabasta when Croc impaled him and leaves him to die in the desert.

Also I really hope Luffy doesnt have toon force like this chapter seemed to imply. That would make his power way to broken. We would be back to early one piece where no one is a challenge, though I expect Luffy won't be able to activate this ability by choice.

I don't get the zoan fruit explanation if it just seems like devil fruits can have souls inside them. That feels like a separate explanation? Or are they just implying that only zoans can have spirits?

THe rubber bit felt random so I explained it away as "they said the fruit resembled unlimited potential, so luffy being all stretchy and elastic like rubber was a metaphor for being flexible in situations, and thus having unlimited potential"

The few scenes we have seen from before the void century havent shown any but that just means we cant say for sure that they did. Also Toki didnt have any big reaction to them that we saw, but who knows what she learned in her time hopping.

There is a lot about devil fruits we just dont know. The zoans being different felt weird to me as well. You would think CP9 would have known they had a zoan fruit when they were sitting on one waiting for the undercover people to return. But it seemed like not even all the gorosei knew that info so it may just be the one guys belief/theory. Like Jabra telling us there is a literal demon spirit in all of them and if you eat a second the demons fight.
