Not really. You get the occasional preachy vegan that insists that every non-vegan in the world is evil, but the vast majority treat it no differently from any other dietary choice.

Even with the preachy ones, the issue is less than they're trying to push an unreasonable viewpoint and more that they're trying to preach a viewpoint nobody can actually defeat. It's objectively true that veganism causes less suffering than omnivory, no matter how hard omnivores try to be responsible consumers and reduce the suffering they cause. Nobody can actually argue that point. They can only admit that they don't care about it, and being backed into a corner like that rubs a lot of people the wrong way.

I was vegan from age 11-13 because of a teacher who convinced me its the only way to become immortal.

I spent two whole years that way. Then my family had a huge get together. I turned down meat the first day. On the second day they killed a pig. I still turned it down. On day 3 I smelled the shishkabobs on the grill and something came over me a thought I assume its the same one that gay guys have when they first discover their sexuality and that thought is Life isnt worth living without meat in my mouth!

So just like that I stopped being a vegan overnight.

Veganism is a good way to help you regulate your health, tbh. It's gotten easier and easier over the years, too.
I think people are way too pissy about it sometimes (both ways, frankly), but it's hardly a bad thing.

Beyond Meat causes more suffering than you can possibly imagine

If I go more the a week without meat I start to feel a pang in my teeth, a yearning for meat; I also start to look at people the way a butcher looks at a cow.

Have not tried the Beyond meat or the Impossible meat, but that's because it's less healthy then actually eating meat.

Nobody can actually argue that point. They can only admit that they don't care about it, and being backed into a corner like that rubs a lot of people the wrong way.

There is a false equivalency here. Namely that the suffering of an animal is inherently equal to the suffering of a human. While it's true most people want animals treated at least somewhat humanely, the fact is we're discussing non-sentient beings reared specifically for food in a world in which omnivores and carnivores are not exactly 'rare' (and almost entirely more painful in their kills than humans). These animals are not even considered to be companions to humans. So while I can understand someone being outraged at the slaughter of, say, a dog because dogs are considered to be human pets which people often form close bonds to, occasionally reaching the same level as a bond with a human, this doesn't hold true for a cow or chicken.

Additionally a lot of the 'preachy ones' frequently intend to force their own, personal, choice upon others without even giving them the option to dissent. I.E. they want all meat banned meaning you would have no choice but to go vegan or starve. Granted this is a minority of a minority, but it's also an EXTREMELY VOCAL minority of said minority. That other vegans only rarely, if ever, condemn them makes it worse. At least atheists tend to advocate for a personal choice and condemn the people who actively try to make atheism absolute.

I once took a baby chick from my grandpas farm on a plane back to NYC(Ah the pre-9/11 years). We kept it in the back yard and grew up to be a full adult chicken. Gave us eggs. We loved it so much. It was like a dog to us.

It doesn't rely on that equivalency at all. Just on the fact that animals' suffering is not actually necessary for humanity's survival and the fundamental belief that unnecessary suffering is wrong. And then there's the environmental and economic aspects...

Again, all you can do is say that you accept that suffering such that you don't care enough about it to make any changes to your diet, usually while actively trying to avoid thinking about it because it's pretty difficult to justify the truth of what happens in the meat/dairy industries with the fairly trivial benefit they provide. That's not defeating the argument, that's ignoring it because you don't want to have it.

Pigs and chickens can be and are sometimes kept as pets. Cows are revered in India. Animal sentience is recognized in various areas and suggested to varying degrees in scientific research depending on the animal in question.

If you don't care, you don't care. Just say you don't care. But arguing "the Holocaust didn't matter because I don't care" is a poor argument, and at that point you're being as bad as the vocal vegans you're bitching about.

If sentience is the priority and the bar then WAY before we stop eating burgers we need to shut Sea World down.

yeah it was a breach of privacy, i looked it up and apparently he paid more than he should have in the year before so he had credit for the next year, nothing illegal actually took place except that leaker publishing private information, he also leaked bezos info which presented the same situation but they both paid everything they should pay by law
