Felt more like they were trying to imitate Smallville, TBH. So much screentime devoted to relationship drama

Although Smallville was the modern CW trendsetter, the shows were corny even before that. Honestly, most live-action superhero shows have been corny or deliberately played for laughs.

This.

They basically make shows for teenagers whose intelligence they don't respect, written by the cheapest writers they can find, acted out by the cheapest actors they can find.

"Cheesy" is about the best you're going to get. It only goes down from there.

Some of us enjoy the corn and cheese.

When the fastest man alive constantly forgets that fact and defeats his rogues gallery through the power of love and friendship, you dip that corndog in the nacho cheese and eat it up.

Peacemaker was pretty awesome and it was 100% pure cheese.

But the shows TC is talking about came after Smallville ended? Unless you're talking about Lois and Clark or the 90s Flash show (which were definitely also corny and cheesy but in a different way)

DC wants to be all edgy and cool but at the end of the day Flash is just a guy in red underwear that can run real fast.

None.

I wanted to like Legends of Tomorrow because I like Arthur Darvill as an actor, and I like Rip Hunter as a character (or at least I did before the New 52 reboot ruined literally everything), and time travel in general is usually fun... but the acting and writing in the show was so bad it felt like watching local amateur community theater. I couldn't make it past the first season.

I've seen bits of all of shows at different times, though. And I watched clips from when they did their Crisis crossover. And they're all pretty equally bad.

...unless you meant CW shows in general, in which case about the only one I've ever liked is Supernatural. But even that has been kind of bad in later seasons (like half of them).

He's barely in it anyway, and he gets killed off after they introduce our Lord and Saviour, the God of War, Beebo (I'm still trying to find the holiday episode Beebo Saves Christmas)

The first season they tried to do the dark and broody thing that Arrow was doing and it fell flat, plus the Hawkes... (did you know that just six months ago she was a barista?)

(IMO) It got better after that.

Once they embraced the camp and the cheese it really grew into it's own, some of the best Damien Dharkh (I can never figure out where to put the H in there) moments came from Legends; Neal really hammed it up and it was glorious. We are getting Booster Gold next season.

Gary Green is all the man we need.

Star Girl is amazing too but yeah peacemaker and flash are stellar.

It helped that it started as an HBO show that was also going to air on the CW (if you only watched the first season on CW you missed out) so it set the tone for the series early. Naomi's debut season is pretty good too.

I watch (almost) all the live action superhero shows, and the camp, corn and cheese are part of what make them good IMO; where they often go wrong is when they go full grimdark (there were a couple of season of arrow I did not watch) because the studio execs think we want a darker, grittier, "realistic" version of whatever the property is (Powerpuff Girls Live Action anyone?) while ignoring the source material and what the fans actually want.

Yeah, sometimes I'lll spend the day watching Nolan's Batman triliogy, but more often then not I want Adam West dancing with Eartha Kit to sixties psychedelica
