Hopefully this game isn't terrible. If it's half as good as the Chamber of Secrets game, I'd consider that a success. I suppose it all comes down to how detailed the castle is and how integral school life is to the gameplay. I'm hoping for a wizarding world version of Bully and not a generic fantasy open-world with Hogwarts as a hub

Apparently there were 4 different Chamber of Secrets games. I only played the PC one and remember liking it. Not sure if it actually holds up

That could actually explain a lot to me. I played the Gamecube one first and remember having a decent time and then the PS2 version was borderline terrible.

That could just be the PS2 version being the worst for technical reasons; happened a lot with multiplats that gen.

Yeah, I don't think it was actually a different game but it made a difference. Take the cutscene I posted.

Ill check it out though. If it looks interesting Ill possibly end up getting it despite not being too into Harry Potter overall

Chamber of Secrets on PS2 was a staple for me growing up, but yes it did have long loading times

As for this game I can't morally support it but I feel for the developers having to work on it that had no choice with Harry Potter developments

I really hope its good. So far that mini clip showing a bit of the dorm looks pretty nice

The handheld Harry potter games on the gameboy were short, final fantasy esque turn based combat RPGs.

Think only the first 2 got handheld versions tho.

The hardest thing about Harry Potter games is getting the wand combat and movement working. The later EA ones started experimenting with motion controls and the final ones were straight up third person shooters which was awkward and weird.

Holy crap this game looks really good. It's the video game I've always wanted to play since I was a kid.

I saw some "timer" based gameplay though. 25 minutes to brew a potion... I hope there's no microtransactions.

Let me know if this is worth going back and watching.

Though it did bug me how in the intense looking combat scenes, the playable character was reciting the spell names so casually. Made it sound like he was in the middle of a stroll rather than in the heat of combat.

I mean, it's just a big ad. Don't know how interesting that will be for you.

The game looks fantastic visually. An open world game set in the universe with modern graphics. The art direction and graphics are great. The spell combat looks pretty sick too. Using Expelliarmus to yank a sword away from a dude and shove it back into him was awesome.

Yeah, I feel the same way. I'm mostly interested in those aspects like classroom stuff and making friends with the fellow students. It looks like they're including a lot of that, but I wonder how balanced it will be with the other gameplay. It could easily go wrong and not be that fun, but if they make it work nicely, like how Persona bounces between dungeon crawling and socialization, then it could be amazing.

I was actually thinking watching it that it felt like something that was probably turned down from earlier versions. They probably had the player shouting the names louder, and then realized that since every attack is a spell this was super annoying and made it softer.

Looking good! I'm hyped!

Only part that seems iffy is the voice acting. Everything else looks real good.

Both of those have wolves but only one has wolves that shoot lasers out of their mouths.
