How is the crime situation at Pike Place Market? It has been several years since Ive been there, but I never felt unsafe or in danger around there and I think thats only a few blocks from the Amazon building.

Seems like shit is pretty rough around there these days.

Pike place seems to be okay. But around it is where all the bad happens. That specific area around the macy's building has always been bad. For years you could see a line of drug dealers around there.

What's even worse. Is this type of crime stretches all the way down to the Capital Hill area. And then it will follow it's way all the way a little bit to North Seattle.

And then the South side. Where I live now. Is just an absolute trainwreck. You hear violent screams daily. A round of gunshots a couple times a week. Stolen cars left open in parking lots. I've noticed unless called. The police barely patrol.

Having lived in North Seattle most of my whole life. Where a large portion of million dollar homes can be found everywhere now. You'll see police all over the place.

According to a friend, some of the events seem old. Also "McDonald's also confirmed the closure of its downtown", no one is surprised there.

Rember when they set up CHOP in that area to protest police killing minorities, and the first thing CHOP did was set up a police force that exclusively killed minorities?

I have no idea. Taking buses on that street. You can spot police cars sometimes parked around. But at the very most thier checking out like ONE person. IF they are actually getting out their cars.

And the rest of the dealers are ignored. I've seen multiple times people trading. Handing off guns to someone else. And I've seen this with children. Families around. Waiting for a bus.

I have talked to two metro security guys. One was an ex Marshall. Who had joined the Seattle PD. And the other was just an ex Seattle PD. They told me they were making 35 an hour. But they said what they witnessed other cops doing. Convinced them they didn't want to work for Seattle PD anymore.

They told me there is a lot of wrong going on in there. And that they were fine taking a ten dollar pay cut to be away from it. They mentioned that there's SOME good cops. But they just keep to themselves mostly.

This is the only perspective I have currently of the scenario. And that goes without saying my own personal experiences.

The CHOP zone was super bad. I never visited it. My college at the time. Seattle Central was right in the middle of it. And it was closed down because of COVID. A friend of mine visited it during the day. And he said it was super uncomfortable. He would have never been there during the night.

One of the DUMBEST acts a city has ever done. Promoting crime. Everyone I knew in the City was uncomfortable with it.

Cops could not survive any other profession.

Police is too scared to do anything due to BLM protests/CHOP/defund police crowds. Fentanyl is being shipped directly into Seattle from China causing a terrible drug trafficking problem. Incompetent city and state government who care more about political correctness than taking strong measures. Its a long time coming, but Seattle has gone to complete shit and will be like this for a very long time.

Seattle was one of multiple major cities in the last 2 years that had local media controversies that translated to:

police:
#BlueLivesMatter.

protestors:
"No, they don't. Defund the cops, there's no such thing as good cops! However, we demand law enforcement continue to serve us despite suggested budget cuts and respond to our emergency calls! Cops going on strike or quitting en masse? GOOD less oppressive pigs patrolling our huge city with an ignorable history of drug trafficking and violent crime. No way this could negatively affect the city later. We know what we're doing. We made Starbucks!"

Seems to me people should start voting differently. Or, I guess it's just not bad enough yet. Or people have trouble connecting dots. *shrug*
