Heads up, they're not going to make more infrastructure for oil as they're fully aware Russia's oil will come back on the market eventually and if they started pumping more themselves, their oil would have to be sold cheaper for the forseeable future to deal with the excess.

Of course if the world's nations weren't such pussies, they'd disassemble OPEC and turn the world oil supply in to a non-profit until the eventual move off oil for good.

That aside, it's not exactly a valid point. If the rest of the world's oil prices skyrocket, local prices are going to follow suit, simply because domestic buyers are doing to be competing with foreign ones. It lowers them a little across the board, since transportation costs mean it's generally going to be cheaper to sell locally than to sell abroad, but gas prices are always going to respond to global crises like this. That's just the nature of supply and demand. The only way to avoid that would be to make it illegal for domestic producers to export oil before domestic needs are met, and that's a fantastic way to convince would-be investors to take their business elsewhere (to say nothing of being flagrantly hypocritical for those that insist government should stop meddling with the oil industry).
what wasn't a valid point?

The idea that increasing or decreasing domestic production makes the US less or more (respectively) vulnerable to fluctuations in global oil prices. High gas prices are not a consequence of depending on foreign oil.

"Trump being right in that video" means "we shouldn't depend on foreign oil," which in this context carries the implication that dependence on foreign oil is why gas prices are so high. That's not "something unrelated," that's the discussion at the core of that post and this entire topic.

"we shouldn't depend on foreign oil" isn't the point trump made in this video

The tweet commenting on the video very clearly makes that point, though, pretty obviously in the context of gas prices (hence it was shared in this topic about gas prices).
