Guardians of the Galaxy was way better than I was expecting. The gameplay loop, while not perfect, was fun and well planned out, but the big draw was easily the character and stories. I'm so glad this drew from the comics rather than the movies (seriously, not even a nod to the MCU outside of unlockable costumes that frankly look boring compared to their default counterparts).

Drawing from the comics meant so many different, semi-obscure characters could show up that wouldn't have otherwise. And the nature of the game, jumping from planet to planet, subplot to subplot, all under the greater arch, meant all these side characters got a chance to shine. Mantis was by far my favorite here, but really I can't think of a single significant character that was a weak link.

This is honestly gonna be a go-to example of a great comic book game for me, bordering on the level of the Arkham and PS4 Spider-Man series, and I'd love to see more adaptations done like this, really trying to be there own thing. I could see a similar setup working really well for other comic-based groups on a similar level, ones recognizable enough to draw people in but not lesser known enough to still have new, creative stories to tell (less Avengers and Justice League, more Doom Patrol and X-Factor)

YES so spot on! I absolutely loved GotG for many of the reasons you stated. The choice system was fantastic. It made you feel like a leader. And there's so much damn dialogue in the game it's frankly ridiculous. One of the only things that got repetitive for me was the huddle up system, which was the only place dialogue repeated a lot (but the songs were awesome).

Can't wait to see your thoughts on RE Village.

I'll never forget playing this section whilst my baby was sleeping next to me and she made a crying noise in her sleep...I jumped halfway across the room

I played this game through again a couple of weeks back, yes there are some flaws, but man what a great game!

So psyched that 7, 2 and 3 are being released on PS5
