Knew this wasn't real when I saw Harry Potter. Women are literally disgusted when someone hasn't read it.

Did anyone explain why Jack Reacher is on the list?

Because the woman/women who made that list find it boring. At the same time men aren't supposed to like books that women do like (like Harry Potter) either. Men should just not enjoy anything too much.

Honestly as weird as it might sound, i think having atlas shrugged is worse than mein kampf. There's a lot of good reasons why you'd want to read hitlers book. There's a lot of reasons why there's a million documentaries on Hitler and the nazis. People want to know what that psycho was thinking. Historians or people interested in history also have legitimate reasons to want to read it. I know one person that has the book for sure, because I saw it in his library, and he is definitely not a nazi. He has over a thousand books. Now if someone literally just had mein kampf and other similar books and not much else in terms of variety, you could probably start getting suspect about something

I see literally no reason to read atlas shrugged though. Ayn rand is not a pivotal world figure or an interesting person by any metric. I've heard it's a boring book as well, as it's not like you'll at least get some entertainment value. It's like reading a book by newt Gingrich or Bill O'Reilly. Why would anyone want to unless they subscribe to that ideology? Those people aren't important outside of those political circles

The rest of that list is pretty inoffensive tbh. No comment on the OJ thing cause I don't know what it's about. The rest look like novels of varying quality and largely have no reason to have a strong opinion against them

Edit: oh yeah, Jordan Peterson lol. Like ayn rand but even more pointless

I read Of Mice and Men in school and I saw the movie. I had to step out for the ending for the movie, it was too heartbreaking for me. Freakonomics is a very interesting book as it showcases research that found strong correlations between what would normally be two completely different subjects. I'd love to read a sequel (and also would be terrified) of results derived from AI driven research. Fight Club, I only saw the movie and it was INCREDIBLE.

The others, I know guys who each loved a few select books of that list (Lolita, The Achemist, Jordan Peterson's 12 Rules for Life) and they're well adjusted and productive individuals. I'll even say that even though I didn't read Ayn Rand's titles, apparently she was a major influence on Silicon Valley's culture probably some 40 years back.

I was 100% expecting something by B. E. Ellis to be on there, because once the American Psycho movie hit, his books are seen as bro books, like Fight Club is.

They do, but they don't want YOU to love it.

It's shows you're soft, and not a manly-man.

But if you read Fight Club, you also to aggro.

So they want you to be a many-man, but not too much of a manly-man where you're an alpha. you need to be sensitive, but not a cry baby. The outdoorsy type, but not dirty.

What's the proper combination of all of these? No one will every say, because no one really knows.

Not really. All they're asking is "Why?" when it comes to certain books, and no one has been able to give a proper response.

Best explanation is certain books are "Too Popular" so it shouldn't be your favorite.

After getting the obvious ones out of the way, many people agreed that certain works of well-known fiction should not be considered a favorite by anyone.

It's like dragging a woman because Taylor Swift or Adele are her favorite musicians.

Which is why people are calling this list bullshit.

Currently reading Lolita, super fucked up but very well written. Catcher in the Rye was great, too. First two books make sense, then it looks like they just went to an online list of modern classical literature (plus Twilight and HP) and picked ones at random considering Of Mice and Men is on there.

No woman in real life gives a shit about any of this, though. This is clearly blue-haired, fat bitch, always whining on Twitter category.

Yeah to consider someone enjoying a book(especially beloved classics like a lot on the list) as a red flag is the real red flag. How snap-judgemental are they in other aspects of life?

Of Mice and Men was really good.

Also, I'm kind of annoyed by the fact that there's a Hemingway book on here. He was a brilliant author whose own flaws make for fascinating subtexts in his books.
