The undisputed wall of the souls-like games?

that duo made people refund their games when dark souls came out.

It will always deserve an honorable mention, but it's been outdone, even in its own game.

they were definitely a wall players had to surmount, but there have been many bosses more difficult than them throughout the series, IMO (Artorious, Manus, Frieda, Nameless King, Aldritch, Gwyn, etc.).

Hardest boss? No. Still biggest/best wall in the series? Absolutely.

Personally I struggled with Capra Demon, Bed of Chaos and Sif more than them. I only played it once though.

I think I must have got lucky with those two or something. Pretty sure I beat them on my second or third try. I'm not good though because I absolutely struggled elsewhere.

I beat them on my first try, a few months back. But I was also overleveled

If we're just sticking with ds1, Manus made me almost give up and quit at 99% done

My favorite fight by far was artorias. It took me a couple or days but it was fun rather than annoying

SKG is from the DLC, yes. it's absolutely fantastic and highly recommended.

Orphan of Kos is from Bloodborne DLC, which is also good, good, good stuff.

I didn't know rolls had I frames until I rolled through one of Smough's hammer strikes. I then beat them the next try

Friede is harder (Friede is hardEST, id say).

You owe it to yourself to fight Gael. It is quite the experience.

First try on Gael I got him to around 2-5% health and I was like

"Damn, I was close to seeing his second form on my first attempt"

Then on the second attempt I got it and I was shocked that was it.

Yeah, I'm great.

My personal top 5 most difficult bosses amongst the soulsborne bosses would probably be (in no particular order)

Gael, Orphan, Ludwig, Nameless King and Friede

No surprise that they're all from later games because bosses in earlier games didn't have overloaded movesets or multiple phases

However, the toughest boss they've made imo was Sword Saint in Sekiro

I havent finished Elden Ring, still only in Liurnia (second area), maybe they topped him idk

I dont know if anyone here has gotten to the Caelid boss in Elden Ring Radahn but I think if you try to fight him without summons or spirits which doesn't seem intended then he may be the hardest of all

Then again you could overlevel for it. Friede, Gael and Isshin have the benefit of being designed for endgame characters

I still haven't gone back to do the inner versions of the 3 mains in sekiro

I'll probably go back and replay it completely sometime this year

Elden Ring is gonna take some time at my current pace and I got Horizon Forbidden West to unwrap right after

If we're talking things that make new players give up the answer's probably not very exciting.
Capra Demon or Gargoyles.
I'm going to be optimistic and say people generally get past Taurus Demon.
Since 2 sucks I'd guess it happens shortly into whatever level they pick, or if it has to be a boss then Pursuer or Ruin Sentinels.

I fought a lot of the bigger bosses in Sekiro without knowing I could parry them too lol. I just assumed you couldn't for some reason. The apes took a lot of running around lol.

Everyone hates the Capra Demon.

That fight area is pathetically small for any boss, and the motherfucker sends two demon dogs after you relentlessly.

I only ever beat it in cheese.

They were never considered the hardest right?

Like i've always heard of Kalameet or Artorias being the hardest fights. I know OnS is considered the make or break and that if you can beat them you can gauge how well you'll handle the rest of the game.

Manus was the hardest boss for me in DS1.

Orphan of Kos is probably the hardest boss in the series IMO

Ngl I haven't heard of Artorius being super hard until this topic. Capra Demon is definitely oft-complained of but he's also the first boss people actually have to fight without a giant plunging attack setpiece. If you know to swing for the dogs first then he's pretty doable

one of the easiest after the first try. Literally run up the rant. Kill the dogs. Then do a plunging strike on Capraz

I died to capra a few times until I did something like. enter in the room, dodge over to the left and up the stairs, turn around since the dogs get up before capra does and kill them, then jump down and estus if you need to because capra will have a delay coming down to you. at that point it's just you and him and he isn't that strong 1 on 1
