Emergency phone alert system exists, so sure, but not sure how much warning would be given for incoming nukes.

if it's an icbm from the maximum distance of western russia to eastern US via the pacific ocean then it'd take about

This missile would take an average of 25 minutes depending on how well the launch goes, but would be detected pretty much as soon as the silo doors even wiggle

On the other hand a submarine launched missile would have almost no warning and could hit within 30 seconds.

In the grand scheme of things it shows that were a nation full of egomaniacs if we think well be the first target of a nuclear weapon. (At least in these current events)

The US is the country most able to completely devestate Russia in a full scale nuclear exchange. If they're doing a first strike they're obviously going to target the US.

Why would they? Them attacking us with Nukes means the end of the world. Same if we did it to them. So theres no reason for them to attack us when talking about Ukraine. We technically have stayed out of the shit lest you count the sanctions.

Knowing AT&T, we'll get said notifications a day or two after the nukes have already come.

... Probably try and see if I could get a gun to shoot my cats. Wouldn't want to risk them surviving and slowly dying in agony via fallout (there's no way a nuke would directly hit the place I live in, but the prevailing winds would blow particles from important targets to this place).

I don't have a very strong will to live, so... *shrug*

Yeah, if Russia tries nuking Ukraine, it's a given that everyone else will start nuking Russia. That means Russia will also start nuking everyone else, and the US is absolutely at the top of that list. That's not a matter of American egomania, that's a matter of the US being the world's most significant nuclear power.

This also means Russia won't try nuking Ukraine. Mutually assured global destruction is a pretty strong deterrent and there is no possible outcome of that decision that would result in an actual benefit for Russia.

Honestly? Probably pretty much whatever I was already doing/planning to do after work (I would, of course, stop working). I'm not going to be able to escape in that time frame (it'd be a stretch normally, let alone with everyone trying to get out at once), and it's not like I'll be around to regret not spending the time optimally, so why waste time trying to optimize it?
