I just got into a flame war with this one guy that had China flags all over his sociall media account. We argued until I finally rested the case with him by getting to him to admit being a communist.

Here's the scary thing. He's not a Russian bot. He's a very real person (he even uploads vids of himself doing other stupid s***). And he's one out of many many other people that have become pro-communist and got onto social media to profilferate his ideals through US-bashing and dismissing everything disagreeable as "western propaganda".

It's crazy they're out there and spreading so much in influence.

Also the guy isnt even Russian. Just a wannable influenced by heavy communist doctrines. He supports people like Stalin and Mao eg.

That's the thing. They tend not to directly address Russia in their comments. Instead they'll use the chances they get to misdirect blame to 'the west' and make all kinds of 'anti-US'. 'anti-west' speeches they can make.

When you ask them to talk about Russia or Putin directly, they'll try their best to avoid doing so

You have to remember that so much of Western Communist sentiment is wrapped up in Anti Imperialism. Which is good. Imperialism and Imperialists are bad. The problem is that it's really just anti Western Imperialism.

When you study the history of Western Imperialism in the cold war era it will absolutely make you realize that 99% of the time the west was committing horrible crimes, usually so some company like United Fruit could make a shit load of money. Or so they could sell weapons. So when you've immersed yourself in that you have to be careful not to be drawn into the trap of assuming that the people the West was opposing were good. Sometimes they were, sometimes they weren't.

It's possible for an ideological or physical struggle to have no good guy. But that requires a bit of nuance that people seem to be incapable of.
