Look... people will talk in your threads until they're done. That's why topics naturally drop down the list when nobody posts in them. If it's a popular topic, you don't need to bump it. If it's a topic nobody cares about, or the discussion has run its course, it expires naturally.

Just let it live its life span and then let it die naturally.

So when am I allowed to interact? My first and only replies were enough to get deleted and the entire topics closed. That doesn't seem fair at all.

You replied like... months later? That's a bit late. Maybe a day or two at the absolute most, but even that is pushing it some. Depends on the topic, mostly. Generic opinion polls don't really need a bunch of bumping, whereas a topic about an ongoing situation (personal or otherwise) might reasonably be bumped by new information.

But even then, etiquette usually serves best when you make a new topic and just link to the old one.

If true, that's ridiculous that I must be subjected to a time frame or create the same topic again when the previous one is still available. Especially for polls collecting data.

Except in the case of long running general purpose topics like the selfie topic, drinking topic, Smash Bros, genshin impact, etc, which exist to cut down on spam and to keep interested parties centralized together.

I did intend to have these topics be general discussions in addition to data collection which is why they are titled as such with little bias as possible. Are you saying if I specified General Cobra Kai Discussion #50 then it would be more okay than what I posted? That seems woefully unnecessary.

It was a clarifying question because you brought up general topics as an example. The topics I made were to gather interested parties together about a specific subject.

Regarding Uncharted, I created the discussion in anticipation of the upcoming (at the time) film. The poll was to gather opinion on the film's source material. I included the following video in the OP which is Neil Druckmann and Tom Holland discussing the games' adaptation to film

I disagree. Time between two posts shouldn't be judged by the mods. GameFAQs users should be able to reply whenever we are able, as long as we do so before the set lock/purge limit.

There is a difference between reply posts and topic bumps. I do not simply write "bump" or "well". Every post I make is either in response to someone or providing relevant content to the general discussion (topic title)

If the "reply post" is a month later, it's designed to bump the thread, and it's a necro bump. You can disagree if you like, but you don't seem to have a strong grasp of forum etiquette.

In case other users find them and have something to add. Which doesn't include the topic creator going down the list to revive his own dead topic. You make a habit of it, which is I think why you get knocked for it so often.

I still disagree. Other GameFAQs features also contradict your etiquette. For example, this website gives us the option to view our posting history from oldest to newest. Some days I'll do just that. When I re-read topics I may find messages I never replied to or I think of an idea that I didn't in the past.

I've said my part well enough. The topic creator shouldn't bump his own topic weeks down the road. Make a new topic and link to the old one with your new thoughts.

Yeah, mods suck. I really don't understand them outside of their obvious motives to just take advantage of the "power" they are handed (which isn't real power). They are seriously the butt of all jokes online.

Thanks for chatting. My last word to you about this will be that if this website doesn't want creators to reply weeks after the previous post then perhaps administration should consider shortening the purge/lock time frame
